As the 19 year old, R Sivatmikha creates history by being one of the youngest and a female music director in the industry, we can’t wait for her debut in Kutti Kumar’s upcoming film Antony. She has directed the music for the film and we hear that it is remarkable.
“I was regularly sending samples of my works to everyone. Kutti Kumar was impressed by my work and I was soon on board for his maiden venture. There are five songs in the album and the interesting part is that every song is different from the other,” she says about her experience.
When asked about her journey, she replied, “I had been undergoing training in Carnatic music as a child but was interested in all genres. That’s when my father said that I should start composing my own music and writing lyrics. I enrolled myself in AR Rahman’s school after I finished my 12th and began learning electronic music composition.”
About the novelty of her position, Sivamitkha said, “I think women are stereotyped everywhere. When I scored low marks in school, those whom I knew said that there was no future for me and that one day, I’d just get married and begin a family. I was disturbed by those comments. Today, even they have started appreciating my work. I think my achievement belongs to every woman.”
