Sasikumar, the once associate of director Ameer set foot in Kollywood with a bang through his rural crime drama Subramaniapuram which hit the screens starring actors Jai, Samuthirakani, Swathi and Ganja Karupu. The multi faceted artist produced, directed and acted in the flick. The crime drama received a lot of appreciation for its fresh plot from the critics as well as from the audience and it reflected in the box office collection as well. Following the success of the project the actor created a market for himself as a bankable lead hero by delivering hit ventures such as Naadodigal, Poraali, Sundarapandian, Kutti Pulli and Kidaari.
The actor who began this year on a positive note with his supporting role in the super star starrer Petta will next be seen in the intense sports entertainer Kennedy Club. The venture is directed by specialist sports film maker Suseenthiran. The project which was wrapped up few months ago had been sent to the censor board for certification recently. Now, we have news that the film has cleared the censorship with a clear U certificate and is poised to hit the screens very soon. Kennedy Club is said to be inspired by real life incidents of a women’s kabbadi team. The sports entertainer is about how a women’s kabbadi team undo all odds to achieve their dreams. The venture is set to explore the struggles that they face in the process to realize their dream.
Actor Sasikumar and veteran film maker Bharathiraja will be seen in the role of kabbadi coaches in Kennedy Club. Gayathrie plays the love interest of Sasikumar, while Samuthirakani, Soori, Neethu, Sowmya, Meenakshi, Soundarya, and Smrithi will be portraying various other supporting roles in the movie. Though, Sasikumar had a good last outing with his supporting role in Petta, the actor’s previous ventures as lead hero in movies such as Asuravadham, Kodiveeran did not do well in the box office as expected. The actor is badly in need of a hit to bring him back to the profitable zone and reinstate his place as a bankable hero in the industry. We will have to wait to see how the venture turns out for actor Sasikumar.
The motion picture is funded by D. N. Thaisaravanan under the banner Nallusamy Pictures. The cinematography department of the movie is handed over to R. B. Gurudev, while the editing department is taken care of by Anthony. The music for the sports drama is composed by music director D. Imman.
On the work front, the actor who is gearing up for the release of Kennedy Club is currently busy shooting for his next action flick Kombu Vacha Singamda. Apart from this project the actor has Rajavamsam in his kitty. The actor recently wrapped up the shoot for the sequel of his hit movie Naadodigal under the directorial of Samuthirakani in which he has shared the screen space with actors Anjali, Athulya Ravi, Bharani, M.
