Director Karthik Subbaraj fell in the attention of Tamil cinema audience right away with his maiden project Pizza which had actors Vijay Sethupathi and Remya Nambeesan in the lead parts. The drama enjoyed a great reception among the audience. His sophomore project Jigarthanda with actors Siddharth and Bobby Simha in the main roles received critical acclamations, and went on to be a cult classic of kollywood. Director Karthik Subbaraj’s last directorial was Mahaan which had actors Chiyaan Vikram and his son Dhruv Vikram in the lead roles. The entertainer opened to negative reviews, and as the result had a bad commercial business. The storyteller has now put that behind him, and has gotten himself busy with his next venture which happens to be the sequel of Jigarthanda. Actors Raghava Lawrence and S J Suryah will be portraying the lead roles in the flick. The movie went on floors earlier this year with a small pooja ceremony.
Director Karthik Subbaraj recently celebrated his birthday. Taking to the special occasion, the production team has dropped a video under the name ‘A shot update’ on social media. Director Karthik Subbaraj himself has unveiled the video. Taking to his official twitter account, the director shared the video and wrote, “Jigarthanda DoubleX. Nearly one-minute-long video opens to the backside of a chair with a character sitting on it. Front of him is a crowd standing at the entrance of a building. Suddenly fire breaks out. The production unit had earlier released the teaser of the venture. The teaser enjoyed a good reception among the audience, and has engendered high expectations on the flick. Just like its predecessor, predominant portions of the movie are set to be shot in and around the city of Madurai. Director Karthik Subbaraj has a reputation of completing his entertainers quickly. The production house is eyeing to wrap the movie in a short time, as they have plans to bring the drama to the theaters as a festive release for Diwali this year.
Apart from actors Raghava Lawrence and S J Suryah, Jigarthanda DoubleX has actress Nimisha Sajayan depicting the female lead part. The rest of the cast is yet to be finalized. Music director Santhosh Narayanan will once again be composing music for Karthik Subbaraj after Pizza, Jigarthanda, Iraivi, Mercury, Jagame Thandhiram, and Mahaan. Cinematographer S Thirunavukkarasu will be behind camera for the venture. Editor Shafique Mohamed Ali has been brought on board to trim the drama. Art director Balasubramaniam will be designing the background for the flick. Stunt master Dhilip Subbarayan will be choreographing action moves for the entertainer. The movie is produced by Kaarthekeyen Santhanam along with Kathiresan under the banner house Five Star Creations. Stone Bench Films will be presenting the entertainer.
On the work front, actor Raghava Lawrence who was last seen on screens in the action thriller flick Rudhran is currently busy shooting for Adhigaram crafted by R S Durai Senthilkumar. Auteur Vetrimaaran has penned the story for the film. The actor will soon begin to shoot for his next project christened Durga which is set to be filmed by film maker Kathiresan. Apart from these ventures, the actor has the sequel of Chandramukhi crafted by story teller P. Vasu in which he has associated with actress Kangana Ranaut in the post production stage getting refined for release.
On the other hand, actor S J Suryah who had his last outing in the action drama Varisu is currently busy shooting for his upcoming venture titled Bommai crafted by director Radha Mohan in which he will be collaborating with actress Priya Bhavani Shankar, and for a Telugu project titled Game Changer under the direction of story teller S Shankar in which he will be seen alongside actors Ram Charan, and Kiara Advani. Apart from these dramas, the actor has Mark Anthony helmed by director Adhik Ravichandran of AAA fame in which he has shared screen space with actor Vishal, and a couple of his delayed movies in the likes of Uyarndha Manithan scripted by Tamilvannan, and Iravaakaalam filmed by director Ashwin Saravanan in various stages of post-production shaping up for release.
