Actress Abarnathi garnered the attention of Tamil cinema audience with her impressive performance as Rosamalar in Jail helmed by film maker Vasanthabalan with G V Prakash Kumar in the lead role. The actress was last seen on screens in a supporting role in Vikram Prabhu’s Irugapatru. The Demon actress is set to return to silver screen as a lead heroine in her upcoming drama christened Narkarappor. Actor Lingesh of Madras fame has essayed a key part in the movie. Story teller Shree Vettri has penned and directed the film. The flick is poised to hit the screens on 2nd of August this year.
The production house has now released the teaser of the flick on social media. Talking to his official X account, filmmaker Pa Ranjith dropped the teaser of Narkarappor and captioned it, “Happy to release ‘Life of manual scavengers – Emotional sports drama.’ Teaser of Narkarappor. Narkarappor follows the story of a sanitary labourer played by Abarnathi who struggles against all odds to provide a platform for her talented chess player son. The teaser opens to a voiceover of a Thirukkural ‘Pirappokkum ellaa uyirkkum sirappovvaa seydhozhil vaetrumai yaan.’ (All beings are born equal. Distinction comes with differences in deeds.) We are thrown a few glimpses of Abarnathi as a sanitary worker facing difficulties. Then we witness her son being made to clean toilets in school citing his caste. Abarnathi takes the issue to the school management and puts up a fight. The oppression continues. Her son is kicked out of the class. Towards the end of the teaser her son finds a ray of hope in a chess piece.
Apart from actors Abarnathi and Lingesh, the casting of Narkarappor also has actors Suresh Menon, Anbu, Aswin, and Tamilarasi playing pivotal supporting roles. Music director Dinesh Antony has taken care of the musical department of the venture. Cinematographers Arjun Ravi and R S Gnanasekar have been behind lens. Editor C K Ranjeet has been bestowed with the responsibility to edit the movie. Art director Thiruman S Ragavan has engineered sets. Stuntman Rock Prabhu has choreographed action scenes. The entertainer is bankrolled by Velayudham under the banner label V6 Film Pvt Ltd.
