Top South Indian actor Mahesh Babu’s accounts holding money worth Rs.73.5 lakhs have been frozen by the GST Department (Goods & Service Tax). It is said that the famous Tollywood hero has dues of Rs.18.5 pending for 2007-2008 for income from his acting profession, providing services as brand ambassador and featuring in advertisements and marketing products.
GST officials declared that the amount of Rs.73.5 Lakhs is the tax plus penalties for late payment and Rs.43 lakhs has already been collected from Axis Bank while ICICI has promised to settle the rest of the cash from Mahesh Babu’s account on Friday and in case of failing strict action will be taken against the bank as well. The Tollywood prince sought the help of the committee for reducing the fine amount, but no concession was made. The 43-year-old hero cannot use his bank accounts until he pays the tax dues with GST Department.
Currently, Mahesh Babu is shooting for the film ‘Maharshi’, which is directed by Vamsi Padapally and starring Pooja Hegde as the female lead. The film is bankrolled jointly by Ashwini Dutt, Dil Raju, and PVP. This will be the 25th film of Mahesh Babu and is expected to hit the theatres by April 2019.
