It seems Director Bala and the controversies surrounding him are inseparable. The director made the headlines when he signed the project with Surya two years back. The expectations for the movie were sky-high because the actor-director joined hands together after a long gap of 20 years. The project was titled as “Vanangaan” After the first leg of the shooting, hero Surya surprised everyone by opting out of the project. It was rumoured that Surya was not treated well by Bala and there was a huge rift created between these two during the shooting. Adding fuel to that controversy actress Mamitha Baiju who was initially roped in to play the female lead opposite to Surya and was opted out of the project says Bala hit her during the shooting and that prompted her to back out of the project.
The “Premalu” actress has recently revealed this in her latest interview with a leading Malayalam daily she reveals that Bala hit her during the shooting and she was not keen on shooting after that horrible incident. Later she took the hard decision to move on from the project. She further added “During the song shoot, Bala asked me to observe a woman who was dancing and playing a musical instrument and asked me to perform. I wasn’t initially ready but learned it in three takes. But he was scolding me and asked me to take it seriously. “She further added that he kept on scolding her multiple times. Which made her nervous and prompted her to opt out of the project.
After this interview was released, her statement went viral on social media platforms and got mixed reactions from social media fans. Few came to her for support and few criticised her for using this as a publicity tool for her movie. But later she clarified that her statement was misinterpreted and was taken out of context. She also credited Bala for playing a role in enhancing her acting skills and the rumours were baseless. She also added that she is willing to work with Bala in future and opted out of the movie only because of professional commitments.
After Surya pulled out of the project Actor Arun Vijay was roped in to play the lead role. The shooting has been completed and the movie is currently in the post-production stage. The movie is all set to hit the screens for summer this year. Meanwhile, actress Mamitha Baiju is gearing up for her upcoming Tamil release “Rebel” starring G.V Prakash in the lead role. Once the issue went viral on social media, she stated on her social media handle Instagram that excerpts from the interview were completely misguided due to the wrong title. Â
This has become a routine for the YouTube channels by keeping controversial titles and thumbnails for the videos to get more views. It puts the concerned persons in trouble and if they don’t react quickly and put an end it may cost their career opportunities. Celebrities should be aware of this and take necessary legal actions against those spreading fake news so that others won’t get affected in future.
