Actress Simran who made her debut in V I P quickly went on to become the dream girl of many youngsters of South India and ruled the Southern cinema industry for more than a decade. She had a vivid on-screen chemistry with many actors. One of which was actor Prashanth. The pair had delivered three successful films during the pinnacle of their careers. Nearly after more than a decade the pair have once again come together in Andhagan. The official Tamil remake of superhit Bollywood entertainer Andhadhun. Father and director of Prashanth, Thiagarajan has crafted the movie. Writer Pattukottai Prabhakar has helped with dialogues. The drama hit the screens last week and was received with positive reviews.
As the film is running successfully in theaters the Jodi actress has recently sat down for an interview with a popular YouTube channel. Speaking about what drew her to Andhagan she revealed, “As an artist you keep screening for captivating stories. I felt Andhagan had a compelling story with rewatchable value. Director Thiagarajan sir has worked on the script to tune it to better suit the taste of Tamil audience. I have watched all the versions of the remakes. And I confidently say that ours will be unique and the best of all. Including the original. Credit to the casting team for having elevated the script with a brilliant star cast.” On why she greenlighted to reprise Tabu’s part, she said, “I know it would be a challenging part. We had a lot of preliminary sessions to get under the skin of my character. Thiagarajan sir encouraged me to just let loose and portray my part with fervor. His thesis was that it would resonate well with the audience and I am glad it did.”
Sharing about her experience working in Andhagan, she expressed, “I am grateful that after all these years with many new artists and numerous advancements in the way we make films, Thiagarajan sir placed his hopes on me to depict a character with grey shades. I have a good rapport with both him and Prashanth since our first project Kannedhirey Thondrinal. So, I was quick to get on board. I think my role in Andhagan would easily be my career best. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with my brilliant costars.”
Casting crew of Andhagan also includes Karthik Muthuraman, Priya Anand, Samuthirakani, Mohan Vaidya, Urvashi, Yogi Babu, K S Ravikumar, Manobala, Rekha Suresh, Semmalar, Vanitha Vijayakumar, Besant Ravi, Leela Samson, Poovaiyar, Lakshmi Pradeep, and Kavitha. Music director Santhosh Narayanan has scored music for the drama. Ravi Yadav has taken care of the cinematography division. Editor Sathish Suriya has trimmed the movie. Stunt master Ram Kumar has designed action moves for the film. Art director Senthil Raghavan has engineered sets for the project. The venture is produced by Shanthi Thiagarajan for the production company Staar Movies. Kalaipuli S Thanu of V creations had distributed the movie.
On the work front, actress Simran will soon have a release in Sabdham filmed by Arivazhagan Venkatachalam with actor Aadhi Pinisetty in the lead. She is also awaiting the release of her long-delayed project Dhruva Natchathiram Chapter One – Yuddha Kaandam helmed by Gautham Vasudev Menon in which she has co starred with actor Vikram.
