Actor Ashok Selvan was last seen on screens in a short in the anthology web series Modern Love Chennai which recently hit Amazon Prime OTT video streaming platform. The series opened to positive reviews from both critics and audience. But is yet to get the attention of the digital audience. The actor has now put that behind him, and is getting ready for the release of his next flick christened Por Thozhil. Newbie filmmaker Vignesh Raja has penned and directed the project. Writer Alfred Prakash has assisted with the screenplay. Actress Nikhila Vimal of Kidaari fame has portrayed the female lead role. The entertainer which went on floors with a small pooja ceremony some time ago, is now done and dusted ready to hit the theaters on 9th of June this year.
The production house has now dropped the trailer of the movie on social media. Actor Ashok Selvan himself has shared the trailer. Taking to his official twitter handle, the actor shared a link to the trailer of Por Thozhil and wrote, “One of the best scripts I’ve read and a film I’m really excited about. Nearly three minutes long, the trailer cuts to a crime scene, where a cop says to his superior, “Sir, three days back there was a death of a woman . . .” The officer interrupts, “Why are you reminded of that murder. It stayed fresh in my memory for two days and ruined my sleep.” The cop responds, “Even this girl is murdered with similar modus operandi. Same person has committed both the murders.” The scene then cuts to actor Ashok Selvan in a meeting with his superior, “Best indoor trainee. In DGP’s word, best overall trainee. Good.” Ashok Selvan intrudes, “Firing exercise . . . best firing exercise.” His superior officer informs him, “Your reporting officer is SP Loganathan (Sarathkumar).” Following which we see Ashok Selvan paying his respects to Loganathan with a salute, who asks him, “Do I look like a school teacher?” Then we have a shot where actor Sarathkumar says, “If you want to understand an artist, you have to study his art. If you want to understand a murderer then you must study his kills.” The production house had recently released the teaser of the flick which had a good reception among the audience, and set high expectations on the entertainer. The trailer has further amplified expectations on the drama.
Apart from actors Ashok Selvan, and Nikhila Vimal, Por Thozhil has veteran actor R Sarathkumar, Nizhalgal Ravi, and O A K Sundar in pivotal supporting roles. Music director Jakes Bejoy has handled the musical department of the movie. Cinematographer Kalai Selvan Sivaji has shouldered cameras for the venture. Editor Sreejith Sarang has been bestowed with the responsibility to edit the entertainer. Art director G C Anandhan has designed the background for the venture. Stunt master Phoenix Prabu has choreographed action blocks for the project. The drama is bankrolled by Sameer Nair along with Deepak Segal and Mukesh R Mehta for the production company Applause Entertainment.
On the work front, actor Ashok Selvan who was last seen on screens in the anthology web drama Modern Love Chennai in currently busy shooting for his next film christened Nenjamellam Kaadhal scripted by director Nirman in which he will be collaborating with actress Avantika Mishra, and for Jack directed by filmmaker Prasanth Pandiyaraj. Apart from these flicks, the actor has Saba Nayagan filmed by filmmaker C S Karthikeyan in which he has associated with actresses Megha Akash, Karthika Muralidharan, and Chandini Chowdary, and Blue Star scripted by S Jayakumar in which he has shared screen space with actors Shanthnu Bhagyaraj, Prithvi Pandiarajan, and Keerthi Pandian in various stages of post-production shaping up for release. On the other hand, actress Nikhila Vimal who was last seen on screens in Tamil in Ranga is currently busy shooting for her upcoming Malayalam venture titled Thaaram under the direction of story teller Vinay Govind in which she will be seen alongside actor Nivin Pauly. Apart from this drama, the actress has a Tamil project Vaazhai crafted by director Mari Selvaraj in which she has associated with actors Dhivya Duraisamy and Kalaiyarasan in the post production stage getting shaped for release.
