Actor Ashok Selvan is a talented artist of Tamil cinema with an interesting filmography to his name. The actor made his debut in the industry with the classic black comedy drama Soodhu Kavvuum which hit the theaters under the direction of story teller Nalan Kumarasamy with actor Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role. The entertainer kept the box office rolling, and went on to become a massive success. Following the success of the movie he made his debut as a lead hero in Pizza 2: Villa. Unfortunately, the project did not do well commercially. But his next venture, the neo noir mystery thriller drama Thegidi helmed by P. Ramesh catapulted him as a bankable lead hero. Now, the actor who was last seen on screens in Hostel is getting ready for the release of his next project titled Vezham. The movie is helmed by director Sandeep Shyam. Now, we have an interesting update on the drama.Â
The shooting of the film was wrapped, and the drama was busy with the post production works. Recently, the production house sent the flick to the censor board for certification. Now, the news is that the censor board has bestowed a U/A certificate on the movie. The film is all set to hit the screens on 24th of June this year. Actor Ashok Selvan himself has shared the news on social media. Taking to his official twitter account the actor shared a poster from the flick, and wrote, “My next film Vezham is hitting the theaters on June 24th! An intense action drama! Vezham is censored U/A and set for June 24 release!” Here is the post made by the actor.Â
Vezham means elephant. The title of the film is a metaphor to the role actor Ashok Selvan depicts in the drama. It is said that actor Ashok Selvan plays the role of an innocent youngster who exhibits his dark side after a catastrophic incident in his life. Actress Janani Iyer will be seen as a writer in the film while actress Iswarya Menon has played the role of a woman from an influential family. Apart from actors Ashok Selvan, Iswarya Menon and Janani Iyer, the casting department of the flick has actors Mohan Agashe, Raja Krishnamoorthy, Sangili Murugan, P. L. Thennapan, and Shyam Sunder essaying various other supporting roles. The music for the film is composed by music director Jhanu Chanthar. Cinematographer Shakthi Aravind has cranked the camera for the drama. The entertainer is trimmed by editor Krishna Karthik. The venture is bankrolled by Kesevan under the banner house K4 Cinemas.Â
Despite a good choice of films, the Oh My Kadavule star has been in a rough patch for a long time without a decent commercial success after Thegidi. He had a slight redemption in director Venkat Prabhu’s adult entertainer Manmadha Leelai which had a decent run in the box office. However, his previous flick Hostel went unnoticed and had a bad business. So, the actor is said to have banked a lot of hopes on this venture.Â
On the work front, actor Ashok Selvan who was last seen on screens in Hostel is gearing up for the release of his Tamil Telugu bilingual project titled Nitham Oru Vaanam helmed by film maker R. Karthik in which he has shared the screen space with actresses Ritu Varma and Aparna Balamurali.
