Tamil cinema is gradually starting to open its gates for talents from small screen and social media sensations. Actress Athulya Ravi is one such lucky entrant to have earned her ticket to Kollywood. She made her debut in Shivaraj’s directorial Kadhal Kan Kattudhe. Last year she made her debut in Tollywood with her female lead role in Meter. The Yenni Thuniga actress is now gearing up for the release of her next Tamil film christened Chennai City Gangsters. Actor Vaibhav will be seen in the lead role in the venture. Newbie story tellers Vikram Rajeshwar and Arun Keshav have penciled and directed the entertainers. Veteran actor Anandraj has depicted a pivotal part. Post-production works for the movie are currently underway. The makers are expected to announce the release date soon.
The production house has been aggressively promoting the drama. They launched the teaser of the flick last month. It showed a group of dimwits headed by Anandraj concocting a plan to rob a bank. Now, they have released the character introduction poster of actress Athulya Ravi on social media. Taking to their official X profile, the Production team dropped the character intro poster of actress Athulya Ravi from Chennai City Gangsters and worded, “Say hello to Jenny! Our lead lady Athulya Ravi brings charm and sass to the movie. Get ready for a rollercoaster ride with her in Chennai City Gangsters! An Imman Musical.” Here is the post made by the production house.
Athulya Ravi plays a character named Jenny in the film. In a recent interview the actress disclosed that she plays an Anglo-Indian woman. Talking about why she agreed to play the part, she said, “Chennai City Gangsters is a complete comedy entertainer. I have not done an out and out comedy flick before. So, I got very excited after listening to the story. The real interesting part is there is no separate romance track. The core of the drama is a robbery and how it links other characters in the story is the crux of the flick.”
Beside actors Vaibhav, Athulya Ravi, and Anandraj, the cast of Chennai City Gangsters has Naan Kadavul Rajendran, Livingston, Manikandan Rajesh, Redin Kingsley, Ilavarasu, John Vijay, Sunil Reddy, P L Thenappan, and Shihan Hussaini essaying various other supporting roles. Music director D Imman has overseen the musical division of the project. Cinematographer Tijo Tomu has cranked the camera for the drama. Editor Suresh A Prasad has been brought on board to trim the film. Art director Arun Shankar Durai has erected sets for the flick. Stunt director Don Ashok has designed action moves. Chennai City Gangsters is funded by Bobby Balachandran for the production label BTG Universal Production.
On the professional front, actress Athulya Ravi will soon have a release in Diesel scripted by story teller Shanmugam Muthusamy in which she will be seen alongside actor Harish Kalyan. On the other hand, actor Vaibhav Kaatteri has his long-delayed project Aalambana crafted by director Pari K Vijay. Actress Parvati Nair played the love interest of the star in the venture.
