Actor Vijay had his last outing in the likes of the action drama Varisu which hit the theaters under the directorial of Vamshi Paidipally with actress Rashmika Mandanna in the female lead part. The entertainer which hit the screens amid massive anticipation among aficionados of the star fell short of expectations. Despite that had a decent box office collection. Now, the actor has put that behind him, and is currently busy shooting for his upcoming film titled Leo. Actress Trisha Krishnan has been booked to play the female lead. Nearly after a decade actress Trisha Krishnan has been paired with the actor. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj who had previously directed Vijay in Master is crafting the movie. He has co written the script along with writers Rathna Kumar, and Deeraj Vaidy. The venture went on floors with a small pooja ceremony earlier this year.
The first schedule of shoot took place in Kashmir under harsh weather conditions. The team had recently shared a video of it which turned viral on social media. The shoot was wrapped on the 23rd of march. Currently, the team is resting. Now, we have news that the second schedule of shoot is set to commence on 29th of March in the film city in Chennai. The shoot is said to take place for two to three weeks. Then the team will travel to Hyderabad to shoot in the film city there for major climax portions. The film will be wrapped with the Hyderabad schedule. It is said that the production house has plans to wrap the entertainer by the end of May, and get it to the post production as they are eyeing to bring the movie to the theater in the month of October. Leo is touted to be a gangster drama which will have actor Vijay in multiple looks. The flick is said to have high octane action sequences, something story teller Lokesh Kanagaraj has done throughout his career. The project is made with a whooping budget of 300 crores. The massive budget and the duo’s previous success in Master has set high expectations on the venture.
Apart from actors Vijay, and Trisha Krishnan, Leo has Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt of KGF 2 fame playing antagonist. The casting division of the drama has actors Arjun Sarja, Priya Anand, Mysskin, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mansoor Ali Khan, Sandy Master, Mathew Thomas, Babu Antony, Mano Bala, Janany Kunaseelan, George Maryan, Abhirami Venkatachalam, and Kathir depicting various other supporting roles. Music director Anirudh Ravichander will once again be composing music for actor Vijay after Master, and Beast. Cinematographer G K Vishnu has been cranking the camera for the film. Editor Ruben has been bestowed with the responsibility to edit the drama. The entertainer is bankrolled by S. S. Lalit Kumar along with Jagadish Palanisamy under the production label Seven Screen Studio.
On the work front, actor Vijay who was last seen on screens in Varisu will next be seen in a cameo part in the superstar Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan which is crafted by Atlee with actors Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara in the lead roles. On the other hand, actress Trisha Krishnan who was last seen on screens in Raangi is currently getting ready for the release of the second installment of Ponniyin Selvan which is slated to hit the theaters on 28th of April this year. The actress is currently busy shooting for her next project christened The Road under the direction of Arun Vaseegaran in which she will be sharing screen space with actor Shabeer Kallarakkal, and for a Malayalam venture Ram: Part 1 directed by Jeethu Joseph in which she will be seen alongside actors Mohanlal, and Indrajith Sukumaran. Apart from these flicks, the actress has Sathuranga Vettai helmed by director N V Nirmal Kumar in which she has collaborated with actor Arvind Swamy in the box office waiting to see the light of day.
