Actor Santhanam was last seen on screens in the long-delayed action-comedy movie Madha Gaja Raja crafted by Sundar C with actors Vishal, Anjali, and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in lead roles. The entertainer opened to mixed reviews but did well commercially. The Inga Naan Thaan Kingu star is now getting ready for the release of his upcoming project DD Next Level. The project is the fourth film in the DD franchise. Storyteller S Prem Anand, who crafted DD Returns has written and directed the venture. Actress Geethika has been paired against the actor in the drama. Director and actor Selvaraghavan has essayed a vital part in the film. The entertainer which went on floors last year with actor Arya clapping the first shot is now wrapped. Post production works for the drama are underway in full swing. The makers are looking to release the venture in May.
We now have news that dubbing works have begun for the venture. Actor Santhanam himself has announced the news on social media. Taking to his official X profile, actor Santhanam dropped a clip from the dubbing studio and worded, “When the ghost ruins our hero’s Valentine’s Day, it will be entertaining for sure DD Next Level Devil’s Double Dubbing starts today. In Cinemas May 2025.” Here is the post made by the actor.
Earlier, talking to a leading media house, storyteller Prem Anand said, “Story of DD Returns sequel was originally written for DD Returns. Gauging the scale of the project Santhanam sir cautioned me not to opt for it as the first movie. So, we shelfed it.” Elucidating the need for a large budget, he stated, “Generally horror flicks demand more VFX backing. The sequel will not just use VFX as a frill tool. It has a crucial part to play to enhance the engageable factor.” Speaking about helming successive projects in the franchise, he revealed, “The best thing about the franchise is that people merely come to the theaters to laugh hard and have fun. I can promise the audience to deliver on that element. This movie will be completely different from the previous one. Even Santhanam will have a total makeover.”
The ensemble cast of DD Next Level also comprises actors Gautham Vasudev Menon, Nizhalgal Ravi, Kasthuri, Redin Kingsley, Motta Rajendran, Yashika Anand, and Maran. Music director Ofro has handled musical gears for the flick. Cinematographer Dipak Kumar Padhy has operated camera for the drama. Editor Bharath Vikraman has been tasked to trim the movie. Art director A R Mohan has engineered sets for the film. Stunt masters Silva and Hari Dinesh have designed action moves for the flick. DD Next Level is funded by Venkat Boyanapalli under the production company Niharika Entertainment. Actor Arya will be presenting the film under his home banner The Show People.
On the professional front, actor Santhanam will soon begin to shoot for actor Silambarasan’s STR 49 which is set to be crafted by director Ramkumar with actress Sai Pallavi in the female lead part. Apart from this drama, the actor has his long-delayed entertainer Server Sundaram helmed by Anand Balki in which he has romanced actress Vaibhavi Shandilya, and Mapillai Vinayagar scripted by Sriram Padhmanaban in which he has collaborated with actors Bhagyaraj, Pandiyarajan, Jeeva, and Urvashi in the box awaiting release.
