Actor Dulquer Salmaan began his journey in Tamil cinema with the stellar comedy film Vaayai Moodi Pesavum. Though his appearance was sporadic in Kollywood, he backed his successful debut with consecutive hits in O Kadhal Kanmani and Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal. The Hey Sinamika actor had his last outing in the period crime drama Lucky Bhaskar which hit the screens under the direction of Venky Atluri with actress Meenakshi Chaudhary as female lead. The entertainer opened to positive reviews from critics and went on to be a blockbuster hit. This year will mark the completion of Dulquer Salmaan’s 13 years in the industry. He has inked his signature for a special project in the special year titled Kaantha. Film maker Selvamani Selvaraj, who shot to fame with the Netflix documentary series The Hunt For Veerappan, has written and is set to direct the movie. Actress Bhagyashri Borse will portray the female lead role in the flick.

In the first look poster, Dulquer Salmaan is seen in a retro fashion getup holding a serious and brooding expression. Kaantha is touted to be a period drama set at the backdrop of 1950’s in Madras. The production house is expected to wrap the shoot for the project in the middle of May. The entertainer will be released in languages Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi. Kaantha also stars actors Rana Daggubati and Samuthirakani in pivotal roles.
Music director Jhanu Chanthar will be working in the musical department of the entertainer. Spanish cinematographer Dani Sanchez Lopez has been trusted with the cinematography division of the movie. Editor Lewellyn Anthony Gonsalves has been brought onboard to bring coherence to the drama. Art director Ramalingam will be designing the background for the film. Stunt masters Vicky and Dinesh Kasi will be choreographing action blocks. The entertainer is produced by Dulquer Salmaan himself under his production label Wayfarer Films in association with Rana Daggubati for his home banner Spirit Media.
On the professional front, actor Dulquer Salmaan is currently in the sets of story teller Pavan Sadineni shooting alongside actress Sai Pallavi for their upcoming Telugu drama Aakasam Lo Oka Tara. On the other hand, actor Rana Daggubati is gearing up for the release of his next Telugu flick Vishwambhara crafted by director Mallidi Vassishta in which he will be seen alongside actors Chiranjeevi & Trisha Krishnan, and Rakshasa crafted by Teja.
