Actor Suriya had his last outing back in 2022 in Etharkkum Thunindhavan helmed by Pandiraj with actress Priyanka Mohan as female lead. He has not had a release since then except for his cameo parts in Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira, Kamal Haasan’s Vikram, and Madhavan’s Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. He has been completely focused on his next historical fantasy action drama titled Kanguva. Bollywood actress Disha Patani is set to open her account in Tamil cinema with her female lead part in the film. Director Siva of Siruthai fame has crafted the movie. Author Adi Narayana has written the story of Kanguva. Writers Madhan Karky and Adi Narayana have helped with the screenplay. The team is currently busy with the post production works.
Actor Suriya recently celebrated his 49th birthday. His fans and celebrities in the industry had poured in their good wishes for the star. As a token of love the production unit has shared the first single from Kanguva on social media. Taking to their official X profile, the production team dropped the first track titled ‘Fire Song’ from Kanguva and worded, “Through the flames of destiny, let’s find our tribal inner instincts. Lyricist Viveka has written lyrics for the song. Singers V M Mahalingam, Senthil Ganesh, Shenbagaraj, and Deepthi Suresh have lent their voices for the number. Kanguva will mark the fifth association of music director Devi Sri Prasad and Suriya after their successful projects Mayavi, Aaru, Singam 1 & 2. It has been officially announced that Kanguva will hit the theaters on 10th of October this year. Recently speaking to a popular YouTube channel producer K E Gnanavel Raja surprised the audience by revealing that Kanguva will be made in two parts and that the shooting for Kanguva part 2 will go on floors either by the end of next year or early 2026.
Bollywood star Bobby Deol of Animal fame is set to make his debut in Kollywood with his antagonist part in Kanguva. The film also has actors Natarajan Subramaniam, Jagapathi Babu, Kovai Sarala, K S Ravi Kumar, Ravi Raghavendra, Yogi Babu, G Marimuthu, Deepa Venkat, Redin Kingsley, Anandaraj, Prem Kumar, and B S Avinash depicting various supporting roles. The cinematography department is taken care of by Vetri Palanisamy. Editor Nishadh Yusuf has been trusted with the editing division. The entertainer is bankrolled by K E Gnanavel Raja under his banner label Studio Green, and Pramod Uppalapati & V Vamsi Krishna Reddy for their production house UV Creations. The makers have thrown in a whopping 300 crores into making the flick. This is the biggest budget for a movie in the actor’s career so far.
On the work front, actor Suriya will soon begin to shoot for Suriya 44 under Karthik Subbaraj. Actress Pooja Hegde has been booked to essay the female lead role in the drama. On the other hand, actress Disha Patani is gearing up for the release of her next Hindi project christened Welcome To The Jungle crafted by Ahmed Khan.
