Actor Vasanth Ravi who made his debut in Tamil cinema with the romantic movie Taramani was last seen on screens in the action crime film Rocky which hit the theaters under the direction of story teller Arun Matheswaran with veteran director Bharathiraja in the antagonist part. The entertainer received critical acclaim from the critics. Unfortunately, it fell flat in the box office. The actor has now put that behind him, and is currently busy shooting for his next Tamil Telugu bilingual project titled Asvins. Actress Saras Menon, daughter of Rajiv Menon will be making her debut as a female lead in the venture. Newbie film maker Tarun Teja has directed the entertainer. The venture has been shot in and around the surroundings of London.
The production unit has now released the first look poster of the drama on social media. Actor Vasanth Ravi himself has shared the poster. Taking to his official twitter account, the actor dropped the first look poster of Asvins, and wrote, “Asvins (Tamil/Telugu) – First look. Actor Vasanth Ravi has recently sat down for an interview with a leading media house to talk about the movie. Speaking about why he decided to pick the project, he said, “After Rocky I was looking for a script that would be a stark contrast to Rocky. Something like a breezy romance drama. I never contemplated doing a horror flick. I do not have much interest in the horror genre either. But when I was approached by Tarun Teja with the story. I was very impressed. I felt I might not get such a raw horror story again. It was well in line with my idea of a horror entertainer.” Explaining about the first look he stated, “We sort of wanted to deliver the concept of the project conceptually. Fear is the underlying current of a horror genre. So, we decided to have three different kinds of fear expressions.” Talking about the concept of Asvins, he said, “The concept is based on horsemen named Asvini Kumaras from the Rig veda. There is a shade of mythology as well in the plot.”
Sharing about his experience on shooting for the project, he stated, “Asvins is set in London. We shot in the freezing winter season. The temperature was hovering between -40C and -50 C.” Speaking about his part, he stated, “I play a YouTuber who has his own crew. My character in the flick has minimal dialogues. I had to communicate extensively through expressions and gestures. Rocky was physically challenging, whereas Asvins was psychological demand.”
Touted to be a psychological horror drama, Asvins is about a bunch of YouTubers who fall victim to an ancient curse that brings evil forces into the world. Director Tarun Teja first made a short film out of the script, and has now developed it into the feature movie format. Apart from actor Vasanth Ravi, the casting of the drama has actors Vimala Raman, Muralidaran, Udhaya Deep, and Simran Pareek in various other supporting roles. Debutant music director Vijay Siddharth has been roped in to compose music for the movie. Cinematographer A. K. Edwin Sakay has handled cinematography for the venture. Editor Venkat Raajen has been brought on board to edit the flick. Art director Don Bala has designed the background for the flick. The entertainer is produced by B. V. S. N. Prasad along with Praveen Daniel under the banner house Golden Arrow Studios.
On the work front, actor Vasanth Ravi who was last seen on screens in Rocky is currently busy shooting for his supporting part in Jailer directed by storyteller Nelson Dilip Kumar in which he will be seen alongside actor Rajinikanth, and for Weapon under the direction of film maker Guhan Senniappan in which he will be sharing screen space with veteran actor Sathyaraj.
