It would not be an exaggeration to say that Vetrimaaran commands a huge fan following equivalent to that of popular actors in Tamil cinema. The Asuran director treated the audience to a spectacle in his last outing Viduthalai which had actors Soori and Vijay Sethupathi in lead roles. It was the story of a rebel who takes up arms to make the voice of the voiceless be heard to those in power. It was loosely based on a short story Thunaivan written by author Jeyamohan. The entertainer was bestowed with critical acclamations, and turned into a blockbuster hit. Soon the second installment in the franchise is set to hit the theaters. Actress Manju Warrier has been added to the cast. She is set to play the pair of actor Vijay Sethupathi.
The production unit has now released the first look poster of the film on social media. Taking to his official X profile, actor Vijay Sethupathi unveiled the first look posters of Viduthalai Part 2 and wrote, “A new chapter begins with Viduthalai Part 2. Directed by the visionary Vetrimaaran! First look is out. Valor and love. வீரமும்காதலும். An Ilaiyaraaja musical.” Here is the post made by the production house.

Both parts of Viduthalai were earlier premiered on Rotterdam Film Festival where it received standing ovation from the audience at the end.
Apart from actors Soori, Vijay Sethupathi, and Manju Warrier, the cast of Viduthalai Part 2 includes actors Manju Warrier, Bhavani Sre, Anurag Kashyap, Kishore, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon, Chetan, Ken Karunas, Ilavarasu, Balaji Sakthivel, Saravana Subbiah, Tamizh, Aryan, Munnar Ramesh, Pavel Navageethan, Sardar Sathya, Manimegalai, Bala Hassan, Asuran Krishna, S Chandran, Sundareswaran CVC, Surya Vijay, and R Ganesh. Music director Ilaiyaraaja will compose music for the flick. Ace cinematographer R Velraj will operate the camera for the drama. Editor R Ramar will oversee the editing department. Viduthalai Part 2 is produced by Elred Kumar under his banner house RS Infotainment, and Vetrimaaran for his production company Grass Root Film Company. Red Giant Movies has bagged the distribution rights of the movie.
On the professional front, Vijay Sethupathi will next be seen on screens in the silent film Gandhi Talks helmed by Kishor Pandurang Belekar. On the other hand, actor Soori is awaiting the release of his upcoming flick Kottukkaali directed by P S Vinothraj with actress Anna Ben as female lead.
