After enduring a very difficult period, actor Vemal is slowly trying to rejuvenate his career. The Kanni Raasi actor was last seen on screen last year in Thudikkum Karangal helmed by Velu Doss. The entertainer failed to impress the audience. The actor will soon have an opportunity to turn things around with his upcoming flick Sir. Actor and politician Bose Venkat will make his directorial debut with the film. Writer Suguna Diwakar has written the script of the drama. The project which is currently in the post production stage is expected to hit the theaters in August.
Music director Siddhu Kumar of Theera Kaadhal fame has composed music for the drama. The makers have now released the first single ‘Panangarukka’ from the album. Musician and actor G V Prakash Kumar & Saindhavi have lent their voice for the song. Taking to his official X account, film maker Bose Venkat dropped a poster from the flick along with a link to the single and wrote, “Tune into the melodious ‘Panangarukka’ first single from movie Sir in the mesmerizing vocals of G V Prakash Kumar & Saindhavi is out now! Actor Vemal plays a school teacher in the flick. The actor previously donned the role of a teacher in the national award winning drama Vaagai Sooda Vaa. In the movie, he essayed a character which despite initial reservations goes on to educate the children of an economically backward village. Sir looks to be on similar lines but with more commercial elements infused. The teaser of the movie which was launched a couple of weeks ago showed a group of influential people trying to demolish a school building and grab the land for their personal gains. Actor Vemal, a teacher of the school, decides to destroy their plans. Sir was initially titled as Ma Po Si. Later the crew chose to change it. Talking about it, director Bose Venkat explained, “We had to change the title of our film due to various reasons. It is not a big deal. We are so happy that we got an even better title. Title of our film will be changed from Ma Po Si to Sir.”
Sir cast includes actors Saravanan, Vijay Murugan, Chaya Devi Kannan, Aadukalam Jayabalan, Siraj S, and Rama. Cinematographer Iniyan J Harish has been behind the camera. Editor Sreejith Sarang has edited the movie. The entertainer is bankrolled by Nilofer Siraj and Siraj S for their home banner SSS Pictures. Auteur Vetrimaaran is presenting the film under his production label Grass Root Film Company.
On the work front, actor Vemal is currently shooting for his next project titled Desingu Raja 2 helmed by Ezhil. Actress Pujita Ponnada will be playing the female lead in the entertainer. He will next be seen on screens in Pogumidam Vegu Thooramillai crafted by Micheal K Raja. The Kalavani actor has nearly half a dozen movies in his pipeline that are delayed for various reasons.
