Actor Karthi was last seen on screens in a cameo part in his brother Suriya’s Kanguva which hit theaters under the direction of Siruthai Siva with actress Disha Patani in the female lead role. The Ponniyin Selvan star is now gearing up for the release of his upcoming action-comedy drama Vaa Vaathiyaar. Director Nalan Kumarasamy, who has previously delivered brilliant projects like Soodhu Kavvum and Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum, has penciled and directed the flick. Actresses Krithi Shetty of Custody fame, and Shilpa Manjunath of Ispade Rajavum Idhaya Raniyum fame will be seen in the female lead roles. The shoot for the entertainer has been wrapped, and is in the post production stage. The makers are working to lock a date for release of the movie. An official release date is expected to be published soon.
The production house has now released the first single titled ‘Uyir Pathikaama’ from the flick on social media. Taking to his official X account, musician Santhosh Narayanan dropped a poster from the movie along with a link to the first single ‘Uyir Pathikaama’ from Vaa Vaathiyaar and wrote, “Uyir Pathikaama is out on all platforms!!! Uyir Pathikaama. Thanks for the immense love, response and feedback to Kannadi Poove and This song – means a lot.” Here is the post made by the music director.
Singers Vijaynarain, Aditya Ravindran, and Santhosh Narayanan have lent their voice for the song. Lyricist Vivek has written the lyrics of the track. The number is mixed and mastered by Rupendar Venkatesh. Music composer Santhosh Narayanan has joined hands with story teller Nalan Kumarasamy for the first time in his career. The work for Vaa Vaathiyaar began in the year 2018. Initially, actor Vijay Sethupathi was supposed to headline the film. Later Arya was speculated to shoulder the entertainer. Finally, it went on floors in 2023 with actor Karthi as lead.
Apart from Karthi, Krithi Shetty, and Shilpa Manjunath, the casting unit of Vaa Vaathiyaar also has actors Sathyaraj, Rajkiran, Anand Raj, Karunakaran, G M Sundar, Ramesh Thilak, P L Thenappan, Vidhya Borgia, Madhur Mittal, Vadivukarasi, and Nivas Adthitan playing various supporting characters. Cinematographer George C Williams Isc has handled camera gears for the drama. Editor Vetre Krishnan has been signed in to bring coherence to the flick. Art director S Ayyappan has erected sets for the entertainer. Stunt man Anl’ Arasu has fashioned action moves for the venture. Vaa Vaathiyaar is backed by K E Gnanavel Raja and Neha Gnanavel Raja under their banner house Studio Green.
On the professional front, currently actor Karthi is occupied with his upcoming projects Sardar 2 directed by P S Mithran in which he will be associating with actresses Malavika Mohanan, Ashika Ranganath, and Rajisha Vijayan, Kaithi 2 helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj in which he will be sharing screen space with actors Arjun Das and Narain, and a film tentatively titled Karthi 29 crafted by Thamizh. On the other hand, actress Krithi Shetty will next be seen on screens in the science fiction romantic comedy flick Love Insurance Kompany scripted by Vignesh Shivan in which she has romanced actor Pradeep Ranganathan, and Genie filmed by debutant Arjunan in which she has co starred with actors Jayam Ravi and Kalyani Priyadarshan.
