Gayathrie Shankar’s Pechi Trailer: A Trekking Adventure Leading To A Racy Horror Experience!

Actress Gayathrie Shankar shot to fame in Tamil cinema through the superhit black comedy drama Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom helmed by Balaji Tharaneetharan with actor Vijay Sethupathi in lead. The actress who is battling to find a hold in Kollywood had her last outing in Prabhu Deva’s Bagheera which had her in a cameo part. The actress in now gearing up for her next release titled Pechi. It is tagged ‘Fear has a new name.’ Storyteller B Ramachandran has directed the film. He has co written the story along with writer Vasanth Kumar. Actor Bala Saravanan of Ayalaan fame has played a pivotal part in the flick. Pechi is all set to hit the theaters on 2nd of August. 

The production house has now unveiled the trailer of the entertainer on social media. Taking to his official X profile, actor Bala Saravanan dropped the trailer of Pechi and wrote, “Extremely elated to take you all into the world of Pechi with its scintillating trailer. My best wishes to the entire team. The Pechi trailer is here for you! Directed by B Ramachandran. A Rajesh Murugesan musical.” Here is the post made by the actor.

The trailer opens to an anxious man running into a derelict building. He sees an effigy, gets scared and tries to leave it. But the doors shut on their own. Then the shot cuts to a group of friends lead by Gayathrie Shankar on a trekking expedition come across a board warning not to enter. They take the dare. Pechi is a horror thriller touted to be based on a short film by legendary filmmaker Balu Mahendra. The story is said to revolve around superstitious ancient practices like black magic and sorcery. The drama has been shot in a single schedule spanning 30 days in a dense forest. Speaking to a leading daily about the flick, director B Ramachandran said, “I have spent a lot of time researching about black magic and witchcraft to write the story. Pechi will be different from the regular horror films that the Tamil cinema audience has witnessed. I can guarantee that the audience will have a unique adventurous experience.” 

Apart from actors Gayathrie Shankar and Bala Saravanan, the casting of Pechi has actors Dev Ramnath and Jana Nathan essaying key supporting roles. Music director Rajesh Murugesan has composed music for the drama. Cinematographer S Parthiban has a cranked camera. Editor Ignatious Aswin has brought coherence to the flick. Art director Kumar Kangappan has engineered sets for the project. The drama is produced by R Paranthaman, Vignesh Selvarajan, and Vijay Kandasamy under the production label Veyilon Entertainment, and Gokul Benoy & Shaik Mujeeb for the banner house Verus Productions.
