Actor Rajinikanth had his last outing a couple of months back in the action drama Vettaiyan crafted by story teller T J Gnanavel. The entertainer had an ensemble cast that included actors Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan. The Annaatthe star is now busy shooting for his upcoming project christened Coolie which is touted to be a period gangster action thriller. The most happening storyteller at present, Lokesh Kanagaraj has joined hands with the actor for the first time in his career. He has sought the assistance of writer Chandhru Anbazhagan to pen dialogues and to shape the script of the flick. The entertainer is in the final stage of shooting. The production house has plans to release the drama in languages Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. An official release date is expected to be announced soon.
Actor Rajinikanth recently celebrated his 74th birthday. Taking to the occasion the team of Coolie has dropped the glimpse of the single ‘Chikitu Vibe’ on social media. Musician Anirudh Ravichander, Arivu, Ajay Krishna, and director/producer/actor T Rajendar have crooned the number. Rapper Arivu has written lyrics for the song. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj took to his official X handle and unveiled the glimpse of ‘Chikitu Vibe’ and worded, “Happy happy birthday thalaivaaa Rajinikanth. The shoot for the film was recently underway in Jaipur. Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan joined the shoot for his cameo appearance in the movie. Both the actors will be seen together on screens nearly after three decades following their collaboration in the 1995 Hindi flick Aatank Hi Aatank. It is to be noted that Rajinikanth teamed up with superstar Amitabh Bachchan in his previous release Vettaiyan. A couple of photos of actor Rajinikanth who looked young and dashing, and a snap of actor Sathya Raj, sporting a chic look with blond gray hair went viral on social media. The pictures have sent fans of both the stars to a frenzy. Both the stars have come together for Vettaiyan nearly after four decades after their blockbuster entertainer Mr. Bharath which was released in 1986.
Apart from Rajinikanth, Shruti Haasan, and Sathyaraj, the ensemble cast of Coolie has Tollywood superstar Nagarjuna, Kannada superstar Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Reba Monica John playing various supporting characters. Music director and adherent aficionado of superstar Rajinikanth, Anirudh Ravichander has yet again teamed up with the star after their massive chartbusters in Petta, Darbar, Jailer, and Vettaiyan. Cinematographer Girish Gangadharan, who had previously worked with Lokesh Kanagaraj in the Kamal Haasan starrer Vikram, has shouldered camera for the film. Editor Philomin Raj has been bestowed with the responsibility to edit the project. Action directors Anbu and Arivu have fashioned action blocks. The movie is backed by Kalanithi Maran for his home banner Sun Pictures.
On the work front, superstar Rajinikanth will soon join the sets of story teller Nelson Dilipkumar for the sequel of their superhit project Jailer.
