This is quite an interesting period in Tamil cinema. The demand for films that take up social issues is like never before. The hero-worshipping culture has begun to wane a bit and dual hero subjects are beginning to gain significance. Actor Harish Kalyan had his last outing in Ramkumar Balakrishnan’s Parking. Actor Attakathi Dinesh was last seen in J Baby crafted by Suresh Mari. Now, both the actors are gearing up for the release of their next movie titled Lubber Pandhu. Debutant story teller Thamizharasan Pachamuthu, an erstwhile assistant of Arunraja Kamaraj has written and helmed the drama. Actresses Sanjana Krishnamoorthy of Vadhandhi web series fame and Swasika Vijay have played the female lead roles in the movie.
The makers have begun to promote the film. As part of it they have now unveiled the trailer of the drama and have announced the release date on social media. Lubber Pandhu is all set to hit the screens on 20th of September. Taking to their official X profile, the production house shared a poster from the movie along with a link to the trailer of Lubber Pandhu and wrote, “Lubber Pandhu – cricket, love, rivalry, and a load of emotions. Trailer out now. The film comes to cinemas on the 20th of September! Produced by S Lakshman Kumar. Coproduced by Venkatesh.” Here is the post made by the production unit.
The two minutes odd trailer of Lubber Pandhu opens to Gethu, the character played by Attakathi Dinesh bunking his job to take part in a cricket tournament where he is compared to the likes of M S Dhoni. We are then introduced to Anbu, portrayed by Harish Kalyan, who is a star bowler of his team. Following it we have a few intercuts of romantic shots of both the pair. In a scene we witness actor Harish Kalyan saying to a player, “You keep raving about how he strikes the ball. Have you ever seen him score on the offside? If I bowl to him, I will get him out in an over or easily bowl a maiden.” We have shots of skirmishes in the locality. The trailer ends with Harish Kalyan rehearsing to deliver an apology to Gethu, “Sorry brother, the fault is on both sides. Let us apologize to each other.” Hilariously he gets told that Gethu is not his brother but father-in-law.
Lubber Pandhu’s cast also includes actors Kaali Venkat, Bala Saravanan, Geetha Kailasham, Devadharshini, Jenson, and TSK. Music director Sean Roldan has handled musical instruments for the flick. Cinematographer Dinesh Purushothaman has cranked the camera for the movie. Editor G Madan has been bestowed with the responsibility to edit the entertainer. Action director Abishek Srinivas has choreographed action blocks. Art director Veeramani Ganesan has designed the background for the venture. The project is funded by S Lakshman Kumar in collaboration with A Venkatesh under the production label Prince Pictures.
On the work front, actor Harish Kalyan is awaiting consecutive releases in the likes of Diesel directed by film maker Shanmugam Muthusamy in which he has shared screen space with actress Athulya Ravi, and Nooru Kodi Vaanavil helmed by Sasi in which he has romanced actress Siddhi Idnani.
