Actress Sakshi Agarwal who ventured into Tamil cinema with her uncredited role in Raja Rani bagged her first female lead role in Yoogan. Subsequently she did a couple of lead parts and few supporting roles. Unfortunately, none of it had the propellant in them to power her career. Luckily, she gained popularity with her short stint in the Bigg Boss reality show. Following it a handful of projects came her way. Despite that, the Naan Kadavul Illai actress is still fighting her way to find a hold in the industry. She had a release last week in the anthology drama Adharma Kadhaigal. The entertainer opened to mixed reviews. Actor Vetri of 8 Thottakkal fame has played the lead role. Director Kamaraj Vel has scripted and directed the movie. Actress Ammu Abirami of Asuran fame has depicted a pivotal role in a short.
Actress Sakshi Agarwal recently sat down with a popular media house to promote the film. Speaking about the challenges in being a part of an anthology she stated, “Adharma Kadhaigal is my third anthology venture. Not that I have developed a taste for the format. It is a natural progression. But I find the aspect of having to impress the audience within a short runtime to be quite interesting. It is a challenge that I like.” Talking about how the other segments influence the overall quality of a film she expressed, “Yes, it is an issue with anthology. The project will not work if just one or two shorts are good. My portion with Vetri was shot at the end. I had no idea about the rest of the segments. But the way director Kamaraj Vel narrated my story gave me a feeling he would pack something worthy in the rest of the stories as well. When I saw the final output, I was very much impressed.”
Describing her experience working with Vetri she said, “Vetri has a good track record for picking fine scripts. He is well prepared and does his homework. He just needs to be told what scene is going to be shot. It is always good to have a costar who is well-rehearsed. It is something I have learned from him.” Briefing up on how she has switched strategy in selecting her roles she said, “So far in my career I have been opting to pick meaty roles. But now I have realized that the story is very significant. Even if the character is well written if the overall story is not gripping, the flick does not do well. Right now, I have started to pay more attention to the script along with my part in it.”
Apart from Vetri, Sakshi Agarwal, and Ammu Abirami, Adharma Kadhaigal comprises actors Divya Duraisami, Thidiyan, Sri Deva, Valavan, Sunil Reddy, Dsr. Srinivasan, Pooja Vaidhyanath, Poo Ramu, and Dharshan. Music directors A R Raihanah Shekar, Harish Arjun, S N Arunagiri, and Charan Kumar have composed music for the flick. Cinematographers K K, M S Barani, Rajiv Rajendran, and Jebin Rejinald have functioned in tandem to operate cameras for the film. Editors Nagooran Ramachandran, Satesh Kurasowa, Mahendran Ganesan, and E Gopalakrishnan have been trusted with the editing division. Art director S A Raja has fashioned sets for the drama. Adharma Kadhaigal is funded by Kamaraj Vel under his home banner Big Bang Movies. Yuvaraj has released the flick under his production house Blockbuster Production.
On the work front, actress Sakshi Agarwal is awaiting the release of her upcoming ventures christened Guest: Chapter 2 helmed by Ranga Bhuvaneshwar, and The Night also crafted by storyteller Ranga Bhuvaneshwar.
