Actress Dushara Vijayan made her debut in Kollywood with the thriller drama Bodhai Yeri Budhi Maari crafted by K R Chandru. The entertainer had an interesting plot yet failed to leave a mark in the box office. The actress got a dream break in her sophomore project Sarpatta Parambarai directed by Pa Ranjith with actor Arya in the lead. Though her part was ephemeral, she left a lasting impact. It was yet again Pa Ranjith’s Natchathiram Nagargiradhu that facilitated a platform for her to prove herself. The actress put on a stellar performance as Rene which received critical acclamations from all directions. Just four years in to her debut the Aneethi actress is now confidently awaiting the release of Raayan with Dhanush, Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan helmed by T J Gnanavel, and Veera Dheera Sooran crafted by S U Arun Kumar with actor Vikram in lead.
The 26-year-old actress recently sat down for an interview with a leading daily to discuss her career so far. Speaking about sharing screen space with actor Dhanush in Raayan, she expressed, “This opportunity feels surreal. It is very personal to me. I cannot capture the magnitude of what I feel in words. I am a huge admirer of Dhanush sir’s performances. My dream was to share screen space with him at least once in my career. But I did not expect it would happen so early in my career. It sort of feels like the Baasha interval moment for me. I think this will be a big breaking point in my career.” Talking about her role in Raayan, without revealing much she said, “I essay the part of a strong yet innocent girl from North Chennai. The character is raw, funny, and has a lot of depth to it.” Explaining whether the role has any resemblance to Mariamma from Sarpatta Parambarai, she explained, “I would love to do Mariamma again. I am not sure if my character is in the sequel. But I think this time I will do my part to perfection. In fact, I would love to do a sequel to all my roles. This is not to say that I regret my previous performances. But I learn and evolve constantly. I look for improvement always.”
Detailing about Dhanush’s prowess as a director, she stated, “He is very clear minded. He knows exactly what he wants from an actor. He extracts it from his artists efficiently. He will not allow anything below his set standards. It is quite challenging as well as exciting for an actor. Also, his ability to switch roles between director and actor is fascinating to watch on sets.” Speaking further she disclosed, “I usually do not go for characters that entirely revolve around me. I do not think I am ready to shoulder that kind of responsibility yet. But I opted to do Natchathiram Nagargiradhu because I related with Rene on a personal level. I also do not want to do shallow characters which exist to merely fill the heroine part.” Explaining about her plans for the future, she said, “I think I will take a break from acting at 35. I desire to travel the world. I want to ensure that there is not a single nation that my foot has not graced. My focus will be on travelling. But I might do one or two films here and there in between.”
