As we all know after the massive success of the Ponniyin Selvan series veteran director Mani Ratnam is gearing up for his next film titled “Thug Life” starring Kamal Haasan in the lead role. The movie marks the second collaboration for the actor-director duo as the pair previously joined hands together for the movie “Nayakan” released in 1987. Apart from Kamal Haasan, Mani Ratnam has signed Jayam Ravi, and Dulquer Salman for crucial roles. Unfortunately, both actors have opted out of the project citing date issues. There is no replacement announced till date but it is rumoured that Simbu has been roped in as a replacement for Dulquer Salman.
However, it is not officially confirmed neither Simbu nor Mani Ratnam. Now the latest buzz is that Mani Ratnam has roped Arjun Vijay as a replacement for Jayam Ravi. Both Simbu and Arun Vijay are expected to sign the agreement this week. Once this is over the movie is expected to declare it officially. The first phase of the shooting was shot in Serbia and a few important portions of Kamal Hassan were shot there. But right now, Kamal Hassan is busy in Campaigning for the I.N.D.I Alliance which his party Makkal Neethi Maiyyam is part of. This has prompted Mani Ratnam to reschedule the shooting. This postponement has affected the availability of both Jayam Ravi and Dulquer Salman.
“Thug Life” also has Trisha, Gautham Karthik, Aishwarya Lakshmi and Joju George playing crucial roles. AR Rahman is composing music and Ravi K. Chandran is handling the camera work. The movie is all set to hit screens early next year.
