Actor Suriya successfully completed 27 years in Tamil cinema last month. Many celebrities from the industry had wished the star on the occasion. The Jai Bhim actor has not had a proper release since 2022. He was last seen on screens in a cameo role in the Hindi drama Sarfira featuring Akshay Kumar, official remake of his superhit film Soorarai Pottru. The actor was actively shooting for his upcoming flick tentatively titled Suriya 44. Actress Pooja Hegde of Beast fame will be seen as the love interest of the actor in the movie. Director Karthik Subbaraj has written and directed the flick. Suriya 44 marks the first-time collaboration of the director with actor Suriya.
We now have news that the shoot for the project has been completed. The production house has announced the info on social media. Taking to his official X profile, actor Suriya shared a photo of himself hugging Karthik Subbaraj and a snap of the entire team of Suriya 44 from the final day of shoot and expressed his happiness and gratitude, “A wholesome, happy shoot got done across several locations. Lots of memories with the super talented cast & crew. I made a brother for life Karthik Subbaraj. Thank you & our team for making Suriya 44 a memorable experience. Suriya 44 was shot in and around the neighborhoods of Ooty, Kerala, Port Blair, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The post production work for the drama is planned to be completed before the end of this year. The makers are currently working on fixing a date for release. An announcement regarding the same is expected to be made soon. Few posters from the movie featuring actor Suriya as a youngster riding RX 100 and in a getup in line with the youngster he portrayed in Vaaranam Aayiram has created massive expectations on the venture.
Apart from Suriya and Pooja Hegde, the star cast of Suriya 44 has Malayalam actor Jayaram, Joju George, and Karunakaran essaying key supporting parts. Music composer Santhosh Narayanan is collaborating with actor Suriya for the first time. Meanwhile, this project marks his eighth association with filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj. Cinematographer Shreyaas Krishna has been behind the lens for the flick. Editor Shafique Mohamed Ali has been brought on board to bring coherence to the entertainer. Art director Jackson has fashioned the background for the venture. Action director Kecha Khamphakdee has choreographed action blocks. Suriya 44 is backed by Suriya and Jyothika under their production company 2D Entertainment along with Karthik Subbaraj for his home label Stone Bench Films.
On the professional front, actor Suriya’s historical fantasy action drama Kanguva was scheduled to be released on 10th of October. But the production house decided to push the release date to avoid a clash with superstar Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan at the box office. The makers are yet to announce the rescheduled date of release.
