Actor Jiiva set foot in Kollywood as a child artist and went on to play the lead role in Aasai Aasaiyai which garnered the attention of audiences. He capitalized on the decent start and delivered consecutive hits, as well as proved himself as a performer in Raam, Dishyum, and E. The Siva Manasula Sakthi star had his last outing in Telugu in the political fiction Yatra 2 in which he had portrayed the role of YSR congress supremo Jagan Mohan Reddy. He is now gearing up to return to Tamil cinema with the release of his upcoming drama christened Black. Director K G Balasubramani has penned and crafted the venture. Actress Priya Bhavani Shankar has been cast against the actor for the second time in her career.
The makers had released the trailer of the movie last month on social media. Now they have announced the release date of the venture. Black is all set to hit the theaters on 11th of October. Taking to his official X profile, actor Jiiva dropped a poster from the flick and announced, “Time is up! Black is set to release in theaters on October 11. Get ready to witness a thrilling journey.” Here is the post made by the actor.
The trailer of Black showed chaos ensuing a couple’s (played by actors Jiiva and Priya Bhavani Shankar) life after they move into a secluded beachside posh villa as the first occupant. They start to experience paranormal activities and their home gets ransacked by a mysterious intruder. Earlier speaking to a popular media house, filmmaker K G Balasubramani revealed, “Black is a story that transpires over a night. The darkness of the night could be referred to as Black. In other view, black could be used to denote the dark side of things that we keep from people even who are dear to us. The film will treat this as its core theme.”
Besides Jiiva and Priya Bhavani Shankar, the casting unit of Black also has stars Vivel Prasanna, Sha Ra, Yog Japee, and Swayam Siddha essaying various supporting parts. Music composer Sam C S has handled musical gears for the drama. Cinematographer Gokul Benoy has been behind the lens for the movie. Editor Philomin Raj has been roped in to trim the entertainer. Art director Sathees Kumar has fashioned a background for the venture. Action director Metro Mahesh has designed action blocks. The project is backed by S R Prabu & S R Prakash Babu for their production label Dream Warrior Pictures in collaboration with P Gopinath and R Thanga Prabaharan under their banner house Potential Studios LLP.
On the professional front, currently actor Jiiva is occupied with his next project titled Medhavi helmed by storyteller Pa Vijay in which he will be seen alongside actors Arjun and Raashi Khanna. Apart from this venture, the Neethaane En Ponvasantham star will soon begin to shoot for his next Telugu movie Kannappa crafted by director Mukesh Kumar Singh in which he will be sharing screen space with actor Vishnu Manchu.
