Actress Jyothika is one of the very few actresses who have turned out to be very successful in their second innings post marriage, thanks to actor Suriya for all the support he offers. The actress has a good number of films in her pipeline and is on a busy schedule. After taking a slide in Kaatrin Mozhi, the official Tamil remake of super hit film Tumhari Sulu directed by Radha Mohan, the actress is now gearing up for the release of her next film titled Ratchasi. The makers of the film have unveiled the first look poster as well as the trailer of the film on the same day.
The trailer has actress Jyothika in the role of a school tutor, while we understand it is absolutely natural to go in to the imagination of Maya from Kaakha Kaakha, it is not what one imagines always. So here in the movie as the title suggests Jyothika portrays the character of a strict tutor Geetha Rani aka Ratchasi. In the two minutes trailer cut Geetha Rani seems like a determined teacher who is on a mission to revamp a government school that is branded as a notorious institution. The trailer opens with Martin Luther King’s quote, ‘If you do not raise a voice against evil things that you witness, you become a part of it, and those who fight against it become a part of history.’ The methods that Geetha Rani implements to rebuild the institution creates displeasure among the other teachers in the school. The character of Geetha Rani seems to be a message spewing one as it speaks of poverty, government’s inefficiency, political interference in the education sector, etc.
As the project went on floors there were reports stating that the film is the Tamil remake of bollywood film Hitchki starring Rani Mukherji. But from the trailer it is clear that the film is nothing like the Bollywood flick. The film is scripted and directed by debutant Gawtham Raj. The project is bankrolled by S. R. Prabhu and S. R. Prakash Babu under their home banner Dream Warrior Picture.
According to reports, it is said that an entire school set with a budget of 50 lakhs was erected at the outer of Chennai city in order to shoot the film. Apart from actress Jyothika, the film has Poornima Baghyaraj, Sathyan, Kavitha Bharathi and Hareesh Peradi in various other supporting roles. The film is set to hit the screens in the month of June.
On the work front, the actress who has a hand full of films is currently busy shooting for her untitled flick under the directorial of director Jeethu Joseph, in which she will be sharing the screen space with her brother in law Karthi for the first time. The actress recently wrapped up the shooting of her dark comedy film Jackpot directed by Kalyan in which she has shared the screen space with veteran actress Revathy. The film is bankrolled by her husband Suriya under the banner 2D Entertainment.
