Actress Keerthy Suresh who ventured into Tamil cinema with her romantic comedy entertainer Idhu Enna Maayam back in 2015 has become one of the most sought-after leading ladies in South Indian cinema. Her splendid performances in veteran actress Savitri’s biographical drama Mahanati and Arun Matheswaran’s Saani Kaayidham elevated her graph as a performer. The Sandakozhi 2 actress was last seen on screens earlier this year in Jayam Ravi’s Siren. She will soon have a release in Raghu Thatha in which she played a character named Kayalvizhi. Suman Kumar who had previously contributed as a writer in the web series The Family Man, is set to make his debut as a director in the drama. Writer Manoj Kumar Kalaivanan has penned the dialogues. The entertainer is poised to hit the screens on 15th of August.
The production team has now begun to promote the film. As part of the promotion, they have released the trailer of the flick on social media. Taking to their official X account, Saregama South shared a poster from the movie along with a link to the trailer of Raghu Thatha and wrote, “Catch the excitement and laughter with fun and twists! Raghu Thatha trailer opens to a character played by Deepa Shankar instructing Keerthy Suresh, “Why can’t you dress properly like a lady?” She instantly retorts, “I am not interested in being a proper lady.” Yet again when another character says the same thing, before he could finish the sentence, she snaps back, “I will crack your head open!” In the first half of the trailer, we witness people around her expecting her to behave in the way they want her to behave. But we see Keerthy Suresh defy them and forge her own path. The second half has her concocting plans to fight against Hindi imposition. The trailer has enjoyed a good reception among the audience and has piqued their interest.
Apart from actress Keerthy Suresh, Raghu Thatha has actors M S Baaskar, Ravindra Vijay, Devadarshni, Jayakumar, Rajeev Ravindranathan, Anandsami, Rajesh Balachandiran, Ismath Banu, Aadhira Pandilakshmi, Janaki, Deepa Shankar, Chu Khoy Sheng, K S Mippu, Mukesh, and Manoj Kumar Kalaivanan portraying various supporting roles. Music director Sean Roldan of ‘Kadhal Kanave’ fame has scored music for the flick. Cinematographer Yamini Yagnamurthy has cranked the camera for the film. Editor T S Suresh has worked in the editing department. Art director A Raja has engineered sets for the movie. Raghu Thatha is produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the banner house Hombale Films.
On the professional front, actress Keerthy Suresh is set to make her debut in Bollywood this year with her upcoming film Baby John directed by Kalees with actor Varun Dhawan as lead. The Saani Kaayidham actress is currently shooting for a couple of her woman centric dramas Revolver Rita helmed by storyteller K Chandru, and Kannivedi crafted by Ganesh Raj in which she will be seen alongside actress Namita Krishnamurthy.
