Actor Rajinikanth is dishing out projects expeditiously as true to the lyrics of his song, ‘Innikkum raja naan kettupaaru da’ (Even today I am the king. Enquire and know). The Billa actor had a successful last outing in Nelson Dilipkumar’s Jailer. Subsequently, he did a cameo in his daughter Aishwarya’s Lal Salaam. In no time he has completed a good portion of his upcoming film Vettaiyan. On top of this he is set to start shooting for his next project titled Coolie which is touted to be a period gangster action thriller. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj will be teaming up with actor Rajinikanth for the first time in his career. He has worked with writer Chandhru Anbazhagan on the script of Coolie. The pre-production works for the entertainer is said to be wrapped, and the project is expected to go on floors this week in Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, the production unit has been zeroing in on cast and crew. Recently the team has finalized Girish Gangadharan as cinematographer for Coolie. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj himself has announced the news on social media. Taking to his official X account, the storyteller shared a picture of himself with cinematographer Girish Gangadharan and said, “Happy to have you onboard once again Girish Gangadharan machi. Cast updates coming soon! Coolie.” Here is the update provided by the director.
Cinematographer Girish Gangadharan had previously worked with Lokesh Kanagaraj in the Kamal starrer Vikram. Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj recently shared a photo of actor Rajinikanth taken during the test shoot to fix his look in the drama. The actor looked young and dashing. A photo of actor Sathya Raj, who is also a part of the entertainer, sporting a chic look with blond gray hair went viral on social media. Leading to speculations that this might be the look of the star in Coolie. Actor Sathya Raj and Rajinikanth will be seen together in a flick nearly after four decades.
The production team has finalized the entire technical team that will be part of the film. Music director and adherent fan of Rajinikanth, Anirudh Ravichander is once again set to create magic with his music. The editing compartment of the movie has been handed over to editor Philomin Raj. Stunt duo Anbariv will be choreographing action movies. The entertainer will be bankrolled by Kalanithi Maran under his home banner Sun Pictures. The makers have planned to release the flick in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
The cast for the movie is yet to be finalized. But there are reports that actors Shruti Haasan, Kishore Kumar of Aadukalam fame, Malayalam actors Fahadh Faasil, Shobana, Dileep would all play crucial parts in the drama. Even more exciting rumor is that actor Kamal Haasan is set to do a special cameo in the flick. The makers are yet to deny or acknowledge these gossips flying around town.
On the work front, superstar Rajinikanth will next be seen on screens in Vettaiyan crafted by T J Gnanavel. The flick has an ensemble cast that includes actors Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan.
