Actor Santhanam had his last outing earlier this year in the Vishal starrer Madha Gaja Raja. The Agent Kannayiram actor will soon have yet another release in his upcoming drama DD Next Level. It is the fourth film in the DD franchise. Director S Prem Anand, who helmed the previous installment DD Returns, has penciled and crafted the movie. Actress Geethika will be seen in the female lead part in the entertainer. Director and actor Selvaraghavan has depicted a key role in the drama. Actor Arya clapped the clapperboard for the first shot of the flick. Recently we had reported that the dubbing works for the movie were underway. The production house has announced that the drama will be released in May.
The makers have now dropped a lyrical video from the flick on social media. Taking to his official X handle, actor Santhanam shared a special poster from the track along with a link to the lyrical video song ‘Kissa 47’ from DD Next Level and wrote, “A chapter from the life of a Thug Film Reviewer – Kissa 47. Music director Ofro has handled musical gears for the entertainer. He has also lent his voice for the track. Lyricist Kelithee has written the lyrics of the number. The song is mixed and mastered by Rupender Venkatesh. Earlier speaking about the flick Prem Anand said, “Story of DD Returns sequel was originally written for DD Returns. Gauging the scale of the project Santhanam sir cautioned me not to opt for it as the first venture. So, we shelved it.” Talking on why the project demanded a massive budget, he said, “Generally horror flicks demand more VFX backing. The sequel will not just use VFX as a frill tool. It has a crucial part to play to enhance the engageable factor.” On directing consecutive movies in the franchise, he expressed, “The best thing about the franchise is that people merely come to the theaters to laugh hard and have fun. I can promise the audience to deliver on that element. This venture will be completely different from the previous one. Even Santhanam will have a total makeover.”
Beside Santhanam, Geethika, and Selvaraghavan, the cast of DD Next Level also has actors Motta Rajendran, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Nizhalgal Ravi, Redin Kingsley, Kasthuri, Yashika Anand, and Maran in various supporting roles. The cinematography division of the project has been taken care of by Dipak Kumar Padhy. The editing department of the venture has been handed over to editor Bharath Vikraman. Action directors Silva and Hari Dinesh have choreographed action blocks for the entertainer. Art director A R Mohan has designed the background for the drama. DD Next Level is bankrolled by Venkat Boyanapalli for the production label Niharika Entertainment. Actor Arya is set to present the venture under his home production The Show People.
On the work front, actor Santhanam will soon join the sets of Ramkumar to shoot for the project tentatively christened STR 49 in which he will be collaborating with actors Silambarasan and Sai Pallavi. Beside this film, the Gulu Gulu actor has his long-delayed movies Server Sundaram scripted by Anand Balki in which he has featured alongside actress Vaibhavi Shandilya, and Mapillai Vinayagar filmed by Sriram Padhmanaban in which he has associated with actors Bhagyaraj, Pandiyarajan, Jeeva, and Urvashi in the shelves awaiting to hit theaters.
