Actor Kalaiyarasan ventured into Tamil cinema with his supporting role in Mysskin’s Nandalala. He shot to fame with his impressive performance in Pa Ranjith’s Madras. Since then, he has been striving hard to carve out a place for himself in the industry. The Raja Manthiri actor had his last outing in the digital space via the anthology film Hot Spot directed by Vignesh Karthick. The flick created a lot of buzz but could not live up to the expectations. Now, the actor is gearing up for the release of his next movie titled Vaazhai. Director Mari Selvaraj has written and helmed the drama. Actress Nikhila Vimal of Por Thozhil fame has played the female lead in the movie. It is officially announced that Vaazhai will be out in theaters on 23rd of August.
The production unit has now unveiled the trailer of the entertainer on social media. Taking to his official X account, actor Kalaiyarasan dropped a poster from the drama along with a link to the trailer of Vaazhai and wrote, “Presenting you the hard-hitting trailer of Vaazhai. Will be Mari Anna’s one of the finest movies. Always been a fan of your craft Mari Selvaraj na. Waiting to experience your world in theaters. It was quite a start and now we are almost here for you. The Three minute trailer of Vaazhai opens to an exchange between two teenagers lugging plantains. One fellow asks the other whether lugging plantains is a thing specific to their town or is it the norm of the world? He then tells him if there is a place that is free of this we could just flee to that place. The trailer shows the struggle of marginalized people and how their children are forced to take up onerous jobs for their survival. It also displays how even today a shot at education is still away from their grabs. The trailer has a vivid complexion of storyteller Mari Selvaraj’s filmography.
Apart from actors Kalaiyarasan and Nikhila Vimal, the cast of Vaazhai has actors M Ponvel, R Raghul, J Sathish Kumar, Dhivya Duraisamy, and Janaki essaying various supporting roles. Music director Santhosh Narayanan has handled musical instruments for the flick. Cinematographer Theni Eswar has cranked the camera for the movie. Editor Suriya Pradhaman has been bestowed with the responsibility to edit the entertainer. Action director Dhilip Subbarayan has choreographed action blocks. Art director Kumar Gangappan has erected sets for the movie. The entertainer is produced by Divya Mari Selvaraj and Mari Selvaraj for the production label Farmer’s Master Plan Production in collaboration with Navvi Studios, and Disney + Hotstar. Udhayanidhi Stalin of Red Giant Movies will be presenting the film.
On the professional front, Kalaiyarasan is currently engaged with his next Telugu project titled Devara: Part 1 helmed by Koratala Siva in which he will be seen alongside actors N T Rama Rao Jr. Apart from this, the Madras actor has a couple of delayed ventures in Mugam directed by Sriram D Prasath, and Titanic Kadhalum Kavundhu Pogum crafted by M Janakiraman with actress Anandhi as female lead. On the other hand, actress Nikhila Vimal is awaiting the release of her next Malayalam movie Oru Jaathi Jathakam helmed by M Mohanan with actor Vineeth Sreenivasan in the lead.
