There has been a spike in interest among storytellers to make anthology series in Kollywood. Modern Love Chennai is the latest addition to the long list of anthology series to have hit the OTT streaming platform in Tamil. Actors Ritu Varma, Ashok Selvan, Remya Nambessan, and Wamiqa have come together for the project. Directors Bharathiraja, Balaji Sakthivel, Thiagarajan Kumararaja, Rajumurugan, Krishnakumar, Ramakumar, and Akshay Sundher have directed the shorts in the series. Writers Balaji Tharaneetharan, Rajumurugan, Reshma Ghatala, Pratheep Kumar S, and Thiagarajan Kumararaja have worked on the scripts. The series which went on floors with a small pooja ceremony some time ago is now done and dusted ready for release.
The production house has now released the trailer of the series on social media. Actress Ritu Varma has shared the trailer. Taking to her official twitter account, the actress dropped a poster from the film along with a link to the trailer of Modern Love Chennai and wrote, “Love seeping in through the heart of Chennai. Nearly three minutes of an odd trailer cut opens to a meeting in which an old man says, “There is a majesty to our LalaGuda area. There is Urdu, Telugu, and Tamil people here.” The shot cuts to him asking a man, “Do you have mixing?” Frustrated with him the man responds, “What do you want?” The trailer gives us a sneak peek into the love lives of four different couples. The trailer has garnered the attention of the audience. The Modern Love franchise is a two-season American romantic comedy series. The franchise has been extended to cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Tokyo, and Amsterdam.
Apart from actors Ritu Varma, Ashok Selvan, Ramya Nembeesan, Wamiqa, the casting department of the drama has actors Sri Gauri Priya, Samyuktha Vishwanathan, Pawan Alex, Aniiruth Kanakarajan, T J Bhanu, Sanjula Sarathi, Chu Khoy Sheng, Srikrishna Dayal, Vasudevan Murali, Vasundhara, Kishore, PB, Delhi Ganesh, Baby Aazhiya, and Vijayalakshmi depicting various other supporting roles. Music directors Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja, Yuvan Shankar Raja, G V Prakash Kumar, and Sean Roldan have composed music for the series. Cinematographers Nirav Shah, Jeeva Shankar, and Vikas Vasudevan have been behind lens for the series. The series is bankrolled by Tyler Durden and Kino Fist.
On the work front, actor Ashok Selvan who had his last outing in the horror flick Estate in currently busy shooting for his upcoming film christened Nenjamellam Kaadhal under the direction of story teller Nirman in which he will be seen alongside actress Avantika Mishra, and for Jack crafted by film maker Prasanth Pandiyaraj, for Por Thozhil scripted by director Vignesh Raja in which he will be collaborating with actress Nikhila Vimal, and for an untitled venture helmed by Jaikumar in which he will be sharing screen space with actors Shanthnu Bhagyaraj, Prithvi Pandiarajan, and Keerthi Pandian. Actress Ramya Nambessan who was last seen on screen in Tamilarasan in currently busy shooting for Ranger crafted by Dharanidharan in which she will be romancing actor Sibi Sathyaraj. Apart from this drama, the actress has a Malayalam venture Her directed by Lijin Jose in which she has associated with actresses Urvashi, Parvathy Thiruvothu, and Aishwarya Rajesh in the post production stage shaping up for release. On the other hand, actress Ritu Varma who was last seen on screens in Nitham Oru Vaanam is currently getting ready for the release of Mark Anthony directed by Adhik Ravichandran in which she has collaborated with actors Vishal, and S J Suriya, and Dhruva Natchathiram Chapter One directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon in which she has co starred with actor Vikram.
