Arjun Das had a release this year in the romantic thriller Rasavathi helmed by film maker Santha Kumar with actress Tanya Ravichandran as female lead. Despite receiving critical acclamations, the flick did not produce a desired impact in the box office. The Kaithi actor will soon try and bounce back to winning ways with his upcoming project. The yet to be titled romance entertainer will be directed by debutant Vignesh Srikanth who had previously written dialogues for Por. Actress Aditi Shankar has been brought on board to play the female lead. The movie recently went on floors with a pooja ceremony. Story teller Vignesh Srikanth sat down with a leading daily to divulge information regarding the film.

Speaking about the story of the flick, he revealed, “My debut venture will be a wholesome breezy romance entertainer. It revolves around Arjun Das and Aditi Shankar who fall in love with each other. The interesting aspect is that they both have a contrasting personality. Not just the two of them, even their family members and friends. How they navigate their differences is what forms the crux of the story.” Explaining further, he said, “It will be in the lines of Mani Ratnam sir’s O Kadhal Kanmani. I have tried to capture the difficulties and complexities in today’s relationships. Also, the magical moments that only transpire when two polar-opposite personalities fall in love.”
Talking about why he chose this script to make his debut, he stated, “As a creator you keep playing out multiple stories with which you want to make your debut. You want it to be perfect. This story gave me a sense of comfortability both in terms of idea and from a commercial vantage point. Besides, I have a personal connection with the plot as well.” On why he opted to cast Arjun Das and Aditi Shankar, he said, “I wrote dialogues for Por which had Arjun Das as lead. I got an opportunity to get along with him. During the time we spent together I realized our thought process and taste were similar on many fronts. So, I went with him. As for Aditi Shankar, I felt she is perfect for the part. It seemed like an interesting combo to me.”
The casting unit is finalizing artists that will be part of the film. An announcement regarding the same is expected to be made soon. On the technical front, cinematographer Aravind Viswanathan has been roped in to handle cameras for the flick. Editor Nash will oversee the editing department. Art director Raj Kamal will be designing the background. The venture is bankrolled by Yuvaraj Ganesan under the production company Million Dollar Studios and V R Vamsi for FYNTEMAX.
On the work front, currently actor Arjun Das is shooting for his upcoming Telugu drama They Call Him OG helmed by Sujeeth with Pawan Kalyan and Priyanka Mohan in lead roles. On the other hand, actress Aditi Shankar will soon be seen on screens in Nesippaya crafted by Vishnuvardhan with actor Akash Murali in lead.
