Actor Nakkhul made his debut in Tamil cinema with Shankar’s controversial directorial Boys. Though he right away fell in the attention of the audience, he could not capitalise on it because of his weight. But the actor left everyone speechless with his remarkable transformation in half a decade. His lead role in the romantic psychological thriller Kadhalil Vizhunthen relaunched his career in Kollywood. The success of the entertainer brought many projects his way. He had a good run before the opportunities went dry. He had his last outing nearly 6 years ago in the action-comedy Sei helmed by film maker Raj Babu with actress Aanchal Munjal as female lead. The Tamizhuku En Ondrai Azhuthavum actor is now set to return to the silver screen this year with his political satire drama Vasco Da Gama. Actress Arthana Binu of Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu 2 fame has portrayed the female lead role. Story teller R G Krishnan has written and directed the entertainer.
The makers recently released the trailer of the movie in a special event graced by Nakkhul’s elder sister and actress Devayani. The actor had shared a video of the poignant moment on social media stating that it will be an unforgettable moment in his life. The trailer is now out on social media. Taking to his official X profile, actor Arya dropped the trailer of Vasco Da Gama and captioned it, “Welcome to the world of fun and fantasy. Entertaining trailer of Vasco Da Gama. Wishing brother Nakkhul and his team a huge success. Worldwide release on August 2.” Here is the post made by the actor.
The two minutes clip opens to a cohort of people taking oath in an academy, “I affirm that I will remain a dutiful drunkard to help the government earn its revenue to divide and disrupt the peace of people and the nation on the basis of language, religion, and caste.” We witness actor Nakkhul as one of the members taking the oath. Vasco Da Gama is set in a fictional world where everything is reversed to the present-day law and order. It takes on the deception and double standards in society, and the expedient behaviour of people for materialistic gains. Vasco Da Gama is poised to hit the theatres on 2nd of August this year.
Apart from actors Nakkhul and Arthana Binu, the casting of Vasco Da Gama has actors K S Ravi Kumar, Vamsi Krishna, Anandraj, Mansoor Ali Khan, Munishkanth, Redin Kingsley, Prem Kumar, T M Karthik, Badava Gopi, Namo Narayana, and Ravi Mariya essaying various supporting roles. Music director N V Arun has composed music for the drama. Cinematographer N S Sathish Kumar has cranked camera. Editor Tamil Kumaran has been brought on board to bring coherence to the flick. Art director Ezhumalai Adikesavan has engineered sets for the project. Stunt master Vicky has choreographed the action moves. The drama is produced by Dato B Subaskaran and Datin Zaleha Abdul Rahim under the banner house 5656 Productions. Yuvaraj of Blockbuster Productions will be presenting the entertainer.
