Story teller Pa Ranjith recently set the Tamil Nadu political landscape on fire with his scorching attack on the ruling party. Many people have rallied in support of the star online while few criticized him for it. The heat has subsided a bit and he is back to work. He is gearing up for the release of his next directorial Thangalaan. Actor Vikram who was last seen on screens in Ponniyin Selvan: II has shouldered the entertainer. He will be seen alongside actresses Malavika Mohanan, and Parvathy Thiruvothu. Writer Tamil Prabha has offered his assistance in fashioning the story. Writer Azhagiya Periyavan has penned dialogues. The production house has already announced that Thangalaan will hit the screens on 15th of August as Independence Day release.
Earlier the makers had sent the film to the censor board for certification. Now we have news that the project has cleared the process and has been tagged with a U/A certificate. The production unit themselves has shared the news on social media. Taking to their official X account, Neelam Productions team dropped a poster from the flick and announced, “An ‘U’nearthing ‘A’dventure awaits us all with Thangalaan. We are certified UA. Thangalaan is touted to be a historical fantasy action drama set in the pre-independence era during the British’s colonization of India. The story of Thangalaan is said to be based on the English men’s pursuit for gold in South India, and the erased history of the community that endured oppression and sacrificed many of their people in the precipitous wild range during the exploration. The Production house had recently unveiled the trailer of the flick. It enjoyed a fantastic reception among the audience and went on to clock millions of views in no time.
Apart from actors Vikram, Malavika Mohanan, and Parvathy Thiruvothu, Thangalaan has actors Pasupathy, Daniel Caltagirone, Hari Krishnan Anbudurai, Vettai Muthukumar, Arjun Anbudan, and Sampath Ram essaying various supporting roles. Music director G V Prakash Kumar has handled musical gears for the entertainer. Cinematographer A Kishor Kumar has been trusted with the cinematography division. Editor R K Selva has been roped in to bring coherence to the drama. Art director S S Murthi has fashioned sets for the venture. Stunt man Stunner Sam has designed action blocks. The movie is funded by K E Gnanavel Raja for his production company Studio Green, and Pa Ranjith for his home label Neelam Productions in association with Mukesh Ambani’s Jio Studios.
On the professional front, currently actor Vikram is in the sets of story teller S U Arun Kumar shooting for their upcoming venture titled Veera Dheera Sooran. He will be co starring with actress Dushara Vijayan of Sarpatta Parambarai fame. Besides this project, the Kadaram Kondan star is anticipating the release of his long-delayed entertainer Dhruva Natchathiram Chapter One – Yuddha Kaandam filmed by director Gautham Vasudev Menon. The casting of the flick includes actors Ritu Varma, Simran, Radhika Sarathkumar, R Parthiban, and Dhivyadharshini.
