Filmmaker Pa Ranjith has cooked something massive in his upcoming historical action drama Thangalaan. The first look poster and few behind the scenes clips from Thangalaan’s shooting spot have skyrocketed hype around the entertainer. Actor Vikram who had a massive release in Ponniyin Selvan: II lastly is gearing up for yet another big release in Thangalaan. Actresses Malavika Mohanan, and Parvathy Thiruvothu have essayed female lead roles in the flick. Director Pa Ranjith has co written the script of the film along with writer Tamil Prabha. Writer Azhagiya Periyavan has helped with the dialogues. The entertainer is currently in the final stage of post-production. Thangalaan is slated to hit the screens on 15th of August this year.
The makers have now launched the trailer of the drama on social media. Taking to his official X profile, storyteller Pa Ranjith dropped the trailer of Thangalaan and wrote, “Only those who dare to die, get to live out here. Here is the Thangalaan trailer in Tamil.” The trailer is also out in Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. Here is the post made by the director.

Thangalaan is set in the pre-independence era during the British’s colonization of India. The trailer shows a British officer hiring a group of people from a village on his quest to find a gold mine in a precipitous wild range. The villagers accompany him. As they start their search, they are faced with numerous dangers. Interestingly we get a glimpse of the presence of a sorceress said to be hindering their effort to find gold. The trailer has been received with positive comments. Fans of both actor Vikram and Pa Ranjith have begun celebrating already.
Thangalaan casting includes actors Pasupathy, Daniel Caltagirone, Hari Krishnan Anbudurai, Vettai Muthukumar, Arjun Anbudan, and Sampath Ram. Musician G V Prakash Kumar has composed music for the drama. Cinematographer A Kishor Kumar has handled the cinematography department. Editor R K Selva has been brought on board to trim the entertainer. Art director S S Murthi has designed the background. Stunt master Stunner Sam has choreographed action blocks. Thangalaan is produced by K E Gnanavel Raja under the production house Studio Green, Pa Ranjith for his home banner Neelam Productions, and Mukesh Ambani’s Jio Studios.
On the work front, currently actor Vikram is shooting for his upcoming project christened Veera Dheera Sooran directed by filmmaker S U Arun Kumar. He will be romancing actress Dushara Vijayan of Sarpatta Parambarai fame in the venture. Apart from this, the Saamy Square actor is awaiting the release of his long-delayed flick Dhruva Natchathiram Chapter One – Yuddha Kaandam helmed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. It has an ensemble cast with actors Ritu Varma, Simran, Radhika Sarathkumar, R Parthiban, and Dhivyadharshini playing various supporting roles.
