Actor Vikram was last seen in the epic historical movie Ponniyin Selvan: I which hit the theaters under the direction of story teller Mani Ratnam with an ensemble cast lighting the screens. The entertainer hit the screens amid massive expectations. Unfortunately, upon release, it ran into a lot of controversies. Despite that the movie ended up amassing a mammoth collection worldwide. The Kadaram Kondan actor who is basking in the success of the flick, is currently busy shooting for his upcoming entertainer titled Thangalaan. Director Pa Ranjith is crafting the drama. Director Pa Ranjith has penned the script of Thangalaan along with writer Tamizh Prabha. Actress Parvathy Thiruvothu of Maryan fame will be essaying the female lead part. The project went on floors last year with a small pooja ceremony. Couple of shoot schedules have been wrapped in Chennai. Now, we have an update on the movie.
We had recently reported that the team of Thangalaan is camped in Karnataka to shoot for the drama at the popular Kolar Gold Fields. Now, we have news that the flick has reached the final leg of shoot. It is said that the shoot for Thangalaan will be wrapped in 15 to 20 days. Story of Thangalaan is touted to be a real-life story that happened at the Kolar Gold Fields under the British colonization of India. The film is made with a massive budget. The first look poster of Thangalaan which had actor Vikram sitting on the back of a donkey holding a sword went viral on social media, and engineered high expectations on the flick.
In a cinema event, speaking about actor Vikram’s performance, storyteller Pa Ranjith said, “Vikram is performing at a different scale. I am astonished by his performance. He is putting in a lot of hard work to play his part. He has to spend around three to four hours every day for makeup. There will be a lot for the audience in Thangalaan.” Earlier talking to a leading media house in the state about the drama, producer Gnanavel Raja said, “Thangalaan will be launched at a grand scale as a pan Indian venture in languages Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. The film will be shot using 3D technology as well.”
Apart from actors Vikram, and Parvathy Thiruvothu, the casting division of the drama has actors Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy Masilamani, Daniel Caltagirone, Koushik Mahata, and Hari Krishnan in various other supporting roles. Music director G V Prakash Kumar will be composing music for the flick. Cinematographer Kishore Kumar has been cranking the camera for the entertainer. Editor Selva R K has been brought on board to edit the movie. Action director Sam will be choreographing action movies of the venture. The project is produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja under the production label Studio Green.
On the work front, actor Vikram who had his last outing in director Mani Ratnam’s epic historical film Ponniyin Selvan: I is getting ready for the release of the second installment of the franchise in which he has depicted the role of ancient king Aditya Karikalan. The project is set to hit the theaters on 28th of April this year. Apart from this venture, the actor has his long-delayed venture christened Dhruva Natchathiram helmed by storyteller Gautham Vasudev Menon in which he will be seen alongside actress Aishwarya Rajesh in the box waiting to see the light of day. On the other hand, actress Parvathy Thiruvothu who was last seen in Tamil in a shot from the anthology flick Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum is currently busy shooting for her next Malayalam movie titled Ullozhukku under the direction of film maker Christo Tomy in which she will be sharing screen space with veteran actress Urvashi. Director Pa Ranjith who had last directed Natchathiram Nagargiradhu is also working on his other project titled Vettuvam, and for a Bollywood entertainer based on the life of Birsa Munda.
