Actor Vikram had his last outing in the likes of the epic historical drama Ponniyin Selvan: I which hit the theaters under the direction of story teller Mani Ratnam with an ensemble cast lighting the screens. The entertainer that released amidst massive expectations, unfortunately ran into a lot of controversies. Despite that the movie ended up amassing a mammoth collection worldwide. The Kadaram Kondan actor who is basking in the success of the film, is currently busy shooting for his upcoming project titled Thangalaan. Director Pa Ranjith is directing the drama. Director Pa Ranjith has written the script of Thangalaan along with writer Tamizh Prabha. Actress Parvathy Thiruvothu of Maryan fame will be depicting the female lead role. The project went on floors last year with a small pooja ceremony. Couple of shoot schedules have been wrapped. Now, we have an update on the next schedule of shoot.
Director Pa Ranjith and team were in a break after wrapping the flick’s Chennai schedule shoot. Now, the team has traveled all the way to Karnataka to shoot at the popular Kolar Gold Fields. It is said that the team will be camped in Karnataka for the next six weeks to shoot for Thangalaan. Story of Thangalaan is touted to be a real-life story that happened at the Kolar Gold Fields under the British colonization of India. In a cinema event, speaking about actor Vikram’s performance storyteller Pa Ranjith said, “Vikram is performing at a different scale. I am astonished by his performance. He is putting in a lot of hard work to play his part. He has to spend around three to four hours every day for makeup. There will be a lot for the audience in Thangalaan.” Earlier talking to a leading media house in the state about the venture, producer Gnanavel Raja said, “Thangalaan will be launched at a grand scale as a pan Indian venture in languages Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. The film will be shot using 3D technology as well.”
Apart from actors Vikram, and Parvathy Thiruvothu, the casting department of the drama has actors Malavika Mohanan, and Pasupathy Masilamani essaying pivotal roles. Music director G V Prakash Kumar will be handling the musical department of the flick. Cinematographer Kishore Kumar has been behind camera for the movie. Editor Selva R K has been bestowed with the responsibility to trim the entertainer. Stuntman Stunner Sam will be choreographing the action blocks of the drama. The project is bankrolled by Gnanavel Raja under the production company Studio Green.
On the work front, actor Vikram who was last seen on screens in director Mani Ratnam’s epic historical drama Ponniyin Selvan: I is gearing up for the release of the second installment of the franchise in which he has portrayed the part of ancient king Aditya Karikalan. The entertainer is set to hit the screens on 28th of April this year. Apart from this movie, the actor has his long-delayed venture titled Dhruva Natchathiram directed by film maker Gautham Vasudev Menon in which he has shared the screen space with actress Aishwarya Rajesh in the box waiting to see the light of day. On the other hand, actress Parvathy Thiruvothu who was last seen in Tamil in a shot from the anthology flick Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum is currently busy shooting for her upcoming Malayalam movie christened Ullozhukku under the direction of story teller Christo Tomy in which she will be co starring with veteran actress Urvashi. Director Pa Ranjith who had last directed Natchathiram Nagargiradhu is also working on his next project titled Vettuvam, and for a Bollywood venture based on the life of Birsa Munda.
