Actor Pari Elavazhagan opened his account in Tamil cinema with the crime thriller Yaanum Theeyavan penciled by film maker G Prashanth. The entertainer received acclamations but had a bad run in the box office. His second movie Chennai Palani Mars garnered attention of critics for its interesting idea. But the idea was squandered due to poor treatment. The actor had his last release in J Baby scripted by storyteller Suresh Mari. The entertainer was tagged with positive reviews. But failed to impress the audience. The actor will soon have an opportunity to get to the winning ways through his upcoming film christened Jama. Besides portraying the lead part, he has also taken control of the director’s chair in the movie. Actress Ammu Abhirami of Asuran fame has essayed the female lead role in the flick. The makers have officially announced that Jama will be out in theaters on 2nd of August.
The production unit has now shared the trailer of the drama on social media. Taking to his official X account, actor Sivakartikeyan unveiled the trailer of Jama and wrote, “Happy to release the trailer of Jama! Wishing the entire team for success for your sincere efforts. Jama from August 2.” Here is the post made by the actor.
Trailer of Jama opens to a bunch of street theater artists decking up to portray their role in a street play. We are then introduced to the lead character played by Pari Elavazhagan who says, “Welcome to everyone, my name is Kalyanam. I wonder if my mother named me Kalyanam just to nag me about getting married.” The shot cuts to his mother quipping, “Marriage is just in your name. That is the problem.” From the trailer one could gauge that Kalyanam’s mother wants to find him a suitable bride but she is worried that his profession as a street theater artist who plays a woman makes him undesirable as a groom. However, Kalyanam is ambitious and wants to have a street artist crew of his own. Speaking of Jama in an interview, actor and newbie story teller Pari Elavazhagan revealed, “Jama is nothing but the name of a troupe of street artists who work together.” Talking about the script of Jama, he divulged, “Jama will be the tale of reclaiming the lost glory. It follows the lives of two artistes who form a Jama as partners. A tussle drives one of the partners out. How his son reclaims what his father lost makes the crux of the story.”
Apart from actors Pari Elavazhagan and Ammu Abhirami, the cast of Jama has actors Chetan, Sri Krishna Dayal, Kaala Kumar, Siva Marana Vasanth Marimuthu, KVN Manimegalai, Jesuraj, S Sarathi Krishnan, and A K Elavazhagan depicting various supporting characters. The poignant drama is further elevated by maestro Illaiyaraaja’s magical scores. Gopal Krishna has handled the cinematography department. Editor M A Partha has worked on the editing division. Art director Srikanth Gopal has fashioned sets for the entertainer. The project is produced by Sai Devanand under his home banner Learn and Teach Production. Alexander of Picture Box has bagged the rights to present the film.
