Auteur Mani Ratnam’s dream project Ponniyin Selvan which began its journey nearly 19 years ago has finally been made and set for release. His desire to turn the epic historical Tamil novel Ponniyin Selvan into a film has come true. The world will see the man’s dream on 30th of September this year in theaters. From zeroing in on the cast to roping in technicians on boards, it has been a rollercoaster ride for the team. When everything was finalized and announced it sent the entire cinema audience of South India into a frenzy state. The franchise is divided into two installments and is made with a massive budget of 500 crore. The second part of the franchise is expected to be released in 2023.
If you are staggered by the budget, wait for the price that the entertainer managed to bag just for its Post-Theatrical Rights. It is said that the production house has successfully managed to bill a sum of 125 crore from a popular OTT platform. The price is for both the installments of the franchise. That makes 62.5 crore for a film that is indeed a massive number for a drama. The post production works involving a lot of VFX portions are underway in full fledged. The production house is planning to begin promoting the flick two months before its release. The teaser will be their first marketing tool to pump the expectations even higher. Just imagine so many artists together on stage. That is lit.

It is one of the most popular literary works in the state. And is widely read by many even today. Popular Tamil writer B. Jeyamohan has penned the dialogues for the flick. As the project nears release the excitement keeps getting higher and higher. The anticipation for the venture is at its pinnacle. The epic historical saga has an ensemble cast with actor Chiyaan Vikram in the role of Aditya Karikalan, actor Jayam Ravi as Arulmozhivarman Raja Raja Chola 1, actor Karthi as Vallavaraiyan Vandiyadevan, actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be seen as Nandini, actress Trisha Krishnan will be seen as Kundavai Pirattiyar, while actor R. Sarathkumar as Periya Pazhuvettarayar. Apart from them the casting of the movie also has Malayalam actor Jayaram Subramaniam, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram Prabhu, Ashwin Kakumanu, R. Sreekar Prasad has trimmed the film. The film is funded by the director himself for his banner house Madras Talkies along with Subaskaran Allirajah of Lyca Productions.
