Talented actor Prashanth was touted to be the next superstar of Tamil cinema. But the Chocolate star went off track after a brief successful stint. Aiming at a comeback in 2018 the actor starred in the action thriller Johnny directed by Vetriselvan with Sanchita Shetty as female lead. Unfortunately, the drama fell flat in the box office. The actor is now set to try his luck once again with the crime thriller christened Andhagan. The film will mark veteran actor Karthik Muthuraman making a comeback to Kollywood with a crucial role. Thiagarajan, director and father of Prashanth has directed the movie. Writer Pattukottai Prabhakar has penned the dialogues. The post production work for the entertainer is completed.
The makers have now released the teaser of the flick on social media. Taking to their official X account, Sony South Music shared the teaser of Andhagan and captioned it, “Dropping it right here. Andhagan teaser out now.” Here is the post made by the music label.

Andhagan opens to the character played by Prashanth, a blind pianist finding it difficult to go about his daily life. He meets with a minor accident caused by Priya Anand. The accident leads to a friendship between the two. In a shot Prashanth tells a police officer that he wants to report a murder. Chaos ensues after that with characters exchanging heated arguments. The story of Andhagan revolves around a blind pianist who accidentally gets embroiled in a murder. Andhagan is the official remake of the blockbuster Hindi flick title Andhadhun helmed by storyteller Sriram Raghavan. Bollywood actors Tabu, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Radhika Apte had headlined the entertainer. Speaking in an interview about the Tamil remake Thiagarajan stated that he has made some changes to the script to suit the taste of Tamil audience.
The ensemble cast of Andhagan also has actors Simran, Priya Anand, Samuthirakani, Urvashi, Yogi Babu, K S Ravikumar, Vanitha Vijayakumar, Manobala, Besant Ravi, Leela Samson, Mohan Vaidya, Poovaiyar, Lakshmi Pradeep, Rekha Suresh, Semmalar, and Kavitha playing various supporting parts. Music for the film is composed by Santhosh Narayanan. Cinematographer Ravi Yadav has been behind the camera. Editor Sathish Suriya has been trusted with the editing department. Action director Ram Kumar has choreographed action blocks. Art director Senthil Raghavan has designed the background for the drama. The venture is funded by Shanthi Thiagarajan under the production house Staar Movies. Kalaipuli S Thanu will distribute the entertainer under the banner V creations. The production team has announced the project will be released in the month of August. But are yet to announce a release date.
On the professional front, actor Prashanth will soon be seen on screens in a supporting role alongside Vijay in The Greatest Of All Time directed by Venkat Prabhu.
