Actor Rajinikanth was last seen in the mass action drama Annaatthe which hit the theaters under the direction of story teller Siruthai Siva with actress Nayanthara in the female lead. The movie did not live up to the expectations of the audience. As a result, it had a tepid response at the box office. The Baashha actor has moved on, and is currently busy shooting for his upcoming movie christened Jailer. Actress Tamannaah Bhatia will be depicting the female lead role. Director Nelson Dilipkumar of Beast fame is directing the movie. The drama went on floors with a small pooja ceremony in February last year. But some health issues kept actor Rajinikanth away from the sets of Jailer. The actor has recuperated, and is back shooting for the flick. Now, we have an interesting update on the project.Â
Shooting for Jailer which has been underway for the past one year has finally reached its final leg of shooting. Recently, actor Rajinikanth shot for an action sequence in Jailer. The shooting for the film is expected to be wrapped in three to four weeks. The production house has plans to release Jailer as a pan Indian entertainer in languages Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. The production unit had launched the first look poster of the venture last year, which had actor Rajinikanth garbed in formal attire. The poster enjoyed a good reception among the audience, and went viral on social media. Actor Rajinikanth looked young and energetic, powered by stylist Aalim Hakim’s magical touch. A video of a police station set erected to shoot Jailer went viral on social media last year, adding to the high expectations engineered by the first look poster. Director Nelson Dilipkumar was heavily criticized for his lethargic work in Beast. It is said that the director aims to set things right with Jailer.Â
Apart from actors Rajinikanth and Tamannaah Bhatia, Jailer has Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar in a pivotal role. The casting department of the flick has actors Ramya Krishnan, Sunil, Jackie Shroff, Vasanth Ravi, Vinayakan, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Dancer Ramesh, Jaffer Sadiq, and Sadhu Kokila in various other supporting parts. Malayalam superstar Mohanlal will be seen in a cameo. Music director Anirudh Ravichander will be once again composing music for superstar Rajinikanth’s movie after Petta and Darbar. Jailer will mark the fourth time association of musician Anirudh Ravichander with director Nelson Dilipkumar after Kolamaavu Kokila, Doctor, and Beast. Cinematographer Vijay Karthik Kannan has been cranking the camera for the flick. Editor R Nirmal has been bestowed with the responsibility to edit the entertainer. The venture is produced by Kalanithi Maran under his home banner Sun Pictures. Chimbu Cine Arts has bought the Tamil Nadu theatrical rights of the project.Â
