Actor Santhanam had a release earlier this year in the Vishal starrer Madha Gaja Raja. The Inga Naan Thaan Kingu star is now gearing up for yet another release in the horror comedy drama DD Next Level. The movie will be the fourth project in the DD franchise. Film maker S Prem Anand, who crafted the last installment DD Returns, has written and helmed the venture. Actress Geethika Tiwary has been cast against the actor in the flick. Director and actor Selvaraghavan will be seen as a prominent character in the movie. The project went on floors in the midst of last year with actor Arya clapping the clapperboard for the first shot of the film. The production team recently completed dubbing works of the drama, and had announced that they will be releasing the venture in the month of May.
As publicized, they have now announced the release date. DD Next Level is poised to release in theaters worldwide on 16th of May in languages Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. Taking to his official X account, actor Santhanam shared a special poster from DD Next Level and wrote, “Naalu pei Naalaayiram prachana! DD (Double Dose) of Entertainment ungal abimaana thirai arangugalil – from May 16! Tamil – Hindi – Telugu. Dhilluku Dhuddu. DD Next Level. Earlier talking about the project director Prem Anand revealed, “Story of DD Returns sequel was originally written for DD Returns. Gauging the scale of the project Santhanam sir cautioned me not to opt for it as the first venture. So, we shelved it.” Elucidating on why the film demanded a massive budget, he stated, “Generally horror flicks demand more VFX backing. The sequel will not just use VFX as a frill tool. It has a crucial part to play to enhance the engageable factor.” On helming consecutive movies in the franchise, he expressed, “The best thing about the franchise is that people merely come to the theaters to laugh hard and have fun. I can promise the audience to deliver on that element. This venture will be completely different from the previous one. Even Santhanam will have a total makeover.”
Beside Santhanam, Geethika Tiwary, and Selvaraghavan, the cast of DD Next Level also has actors Motta Rajendran, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Lollu Sabha Maaran, Lollu Sabha Jeeva, Kasthuri Shankar, Nizhalgal Ravi, Brahmaji, Redin Kingsley, Sha Ra, Yashika Anand, and Maran in various supporting roles. Music composer Ofro has been brought on board to work on the musical division of the drama. Already a single titled ‘Kissa 47’ in Ofro’s voice and Kelithee’s lyrics is out from the album. Cinematographer Dipak Kumar Padhy has been behind camera for the movie. Editor Bharath Vikraman has been roped in to oversee the editing department of the entertainer. Art director A R Mohan has engineered sets for the film. Stunt masters Silva and Hari Dinesh have fashioned action moves for the venture. DD Next Level is produced by Venkat Boyanapalli under the production company Niharika Entertainment. Actor Arya will be bringing the film to theaters under his production company The Show People.
On the professional front, actor Santhanam is currently engaged in his future flick tentatively titled STR 49 crafted by Ramkumar in which he will be teaming up with actor Silambarasan after a long gap. Apart from this movie, the Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya actor has his long-delayed projects Server Sundaram directed by Anand Balki in which he has partnered with actress Vaibhavi Shandilya, and Mapillai Vinayagar scripted by Sriram Padhmanaban in which he has shared screen space with actors Bhagyaraj, Jeeva, Pandiyarajan, and Urvashi in the box awaiting release.
