Talented actor Vemal who impressed the audience in films like Kalavani, Thoonga Nagaram, Kalakalappu, unfortunately ran into financial struggle that kept him out of the industry for a while. But the actor has not given up and is gradually beginning to rebuild his career. The Oru Oorla Rendu Raja actor had his last outing last year in Thudikkum Karangal directed by Velu Doss. The Mattuthavani actor will soon open his account this year with his socio-political drama titled Sir. Actor and politician Bose Venkat is set to make his directorial debut with the flick. Writer Suguna Diwakar has penned the story. The entertainer is now in the post production stage. An official release date for the movie is expected to be announced soon.
The makers had released the first single ‘Panangarukka’ from the album earlier this month. Now they have released a romantic number titled ‘Poovasanai’ from the movie. Taking to his official X profile, director Bose Venkat dropped a poster from the song along with a link to the track and captioned it, “Haunting love song Poovasanai from movie Sir is here. A Siddhu Kumar musical! Sean Roldan. Directed by Bose Venkat starring Vemal and produced by Nilofer Siraj. Vetrimaaran’s Grass Root Film Company.” Here is the post made by the story teller.
Lyricist Viveka has penned lyrics for the track. Musician Sean Roldan has lent his voice for the song. Music director Siddhu Kumar of Theera Kaadhal fame has composed music for the number. Sir has actor Vemal playing a school teacher who takes it upon himself to defend the school from going into the clutches of greedy politicians who are desperate to bulldoze it down. The actor previously portrayed a teacher in Vaagai Sooda Vaa which went on to bag a national award. Sir seems to be in a similar tone but with more commercial elements. The entertainer was christened Ma Po Si initially. But the production unit decided to change it. Explaining about the decision, director Bose Venkat said, “We had to change the title of our film due to various reasons. It is not a big deal. We are so happy that we got an even better title.”
Cast of Sir also has actors Saravanan, Vijay Murugan, Chaya Devi Kannan, Aadukalam Jayabalan, Siraj S, and Rama depicting various supporting roles. Cinematographer Iniyan J Harish has operated camera for the film. Editor Sreejith Sarang has been roped in to bring coherence to the flick. The drama is funded by Nilofer Siraj and Siraj S under the production house SSS Pictures. Auteur Vetrimaaran will be presenting the drama under his banner Grass Root Film Company.
On the professional front, actor Vemal will soon have his next release in Pogumidam Vegu Thooramillai directed by filmmaker Micheal K Raja. The Kanni Raasi actor is currently in the sets of story teller Ezhil shooting for their next venture christened Desingu Raja 2. Actress Pujita Ponnada has been signed to play the love interest of the actor. The Kalakalappu star has numerous entertainers that have been shelved or delayed for release for various reasons.
