Actor Bharath fell in the attention of Tamil cinema audience right away in his debut movie Boys directed by S Shankar. He built a reputation for himself in the industry with his phenomenal performances in Kaadhal, Pattiyal, Em Magan, Veyil, and Nepali. Unfortunately, the actor ran out of luck just about when he began to do well. Despite a good choice of films, he could not secure box office wins. The Ainthu Ainthu Ainthu actor is now set to try his luck once again with the sequel of his hit drama Kaalidas. Director Sri Senthil who had helmed the original will also be directing the sequel. Actor Ajay Karthi of Patravan fame is set to play a pivotal role in the drama.
Kaalidas 2 went on floors recently with a pooja ceremony. Actor Sivakarthikeyan graced the launch event. The makers have officially announced the update on social media. Taking to his official X profile, actor Bharath dropped a crew introduction poster and wrote, “And the sequel is here! Kaalidas part 2. Need all your love and blessings. Actor Bharath will return as inspector Kaalidas in the sequel. The actor is set to don the role of a cop nearly after five years. Kaalidas was a story about a cop probing the death of a woman, whom he initially believes to be a victim of then infamous game Blue Whale challenge which incited gamers to commit suicide. Speaking about the project to a leading daily, filmmaker Sri Senthil said, “Kaalidas 2 will not be a faithful sequel. It will be sort of a standalone work. However, it will have a certain connection to the first part. A sensible and realistic take is what made the first part so successful. So, I have not deviated from that approach. The sequel will also be grounded. There will not be any unnecessary exaggerated flow of events. But it will be a tad high on action in comparison to the first.”
Talking further he revealed, “Even the antagonist will not be too loud or insincere. It would be a character just like any of us. But a few undesirable incidents that happen in the character’s life propels it to do evil deeds.” Explaining about the shoot schedules, he stated, “We have planned to wrap the movie in 50 days. If everything goes to plan, we should be able to do it. We will be shooting in locations in and around Chennai. With a bunch of scenes arranged to be shot outdoors.”
The production house is currently finalizing the rest of the cast that will be part of the film. Details regarding the same are expected to be announced soon. The musical department of the venture will be handled by Sam C S. Cinematographer Suresh Bala will oversee the cinematography division. Editor Bhuvan Srinivasan has been brought on board to bring coherence to the flick. Stunt master Om Prakash has been roped in to choreograph action sequences. The entertainer is funded by K Senthil and N Yogeshwaran under their home banner SKY Pictures.
On the work front, actor Bharath is shooting for his next flick Once Upon a Time in Madras directed by storyteller Prasadh Murugan with actresses Abhirami and Pavithra Lakshmi as female leads.
