In Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, Vijay Sethupathi will say a dialogue, Police thaan Gethu. Sethupathi proves that dialogue. Vijay Sethupathi has done role of a cop for the first time and he fits the bill perfectly. Remya Nambeesan as his lady love was so gorgeous. Remya as a home maker is flawless. So what is the movie all about. An honest cop looking to drive the bad out of the town. He gets into a scuffle with local thugs and how he comes out of all the mess is narrated with usual commercial formula. S.U.Arun Kumar who directed a soft hearted Panayaarum Padminiyum has crafted a perfect Action movie here.
He already said in an interview that he is ready to make part 2,3 amd this movie has the potential to do it. Technical wise, Dinesh Krishnan has made a brilliant cinematography. The camera angles are perfect and they sync pretty well along with the story. A.Sreekar Prasads editing is another positive aspect. The running time is just 2 hours and it matters a lot. The second half is less than an hour. Action scenes are raw and realistic. Nivas.K.Prasannas instrumental tracks elevate the movie to next level. Songs are also soothing to ears. Anirudh’s Hey Mama will ring in most of the mobiles. Songs are clearly crafted for commercial purpose.
Apart from action, the romance between husband and wife is portrayed beautifully. There is no vulgarity. But there is more love. The chemistry between the lead pair has created a magic. Vijay Sethupathi as Sethupathi has truly justified his place in the industry by choosing such a role. He clearly has obeyed the director and no wonder he is called as Directors actor. The pulsating background score is a huge positive aspect. On the flip side, the movie loses steam with some sub plots in between. There are lots of logic loopholes too. But they are noted only when we walk out of the theatre.
Overall, Sethupathi is a welcome bouquet for Vijay Sethupathi as a cop!
