Actor Santhanam ruled Kollywood for a brief stint as a comedian. During the phase nearly no film hit the theaters in absence of the star. But he had bigger dreams, and bid goodbye to playing comedian. He announced with determination that he would only take up lead hero roles moving forward. Till date he has not flinched a bit from his stance. Despite multiple flops the actor keeps demonstrating perseverance. The Idhu Namma Aalu actor was last seen on screens in Inga Naan Thaan Kingu crafted by Ezhichur Aravindan. The entertainer did not do well at the box office. The actor will soon begin to shoot for his upcoming project the sequel of DD Returns. Film maker Prem Anand who helmed DD Returns will also be directing the sequel.
Sequel of DD Returns has recently gone on floors with a pooja ceremony graced by actor Arya. The production house has shared a few glimpses from the ceremony on social media. Taking to his official X profile, actor Arya dropped a clip featuring a few moments from the ceremony and worded, “Super excited to bring you the next installment of the blockbuster franchise DD Returns sequel starring Santhanam darling. DD Returns Sequel Launch
The sequel of DD Returns will be the fourth installment in the Dhilluku Dhuddu franchise. Speaking about the entertainer to a leading media house, director Prem Anand revealed, “Story of DD Returns sequel was originally written for DD Returns. Gauging the scale of the project Santhanam sir cautioned me not to opt for it as the first movie. So, we shelved it.” Explaining why it needs a big budget, he said, “Generally horror flicks demand more VFX backing. The sequel will not just use VFX as a frill tool. It has a crucial part to play to enhance the engageable factor.”
Talking about directing consecutive dramas in the franchise, he stated, “The best thing about the franchise is that people merely come to the theaters to laugh hard and have fun. I can promise the audience to deliver on that element. This movie will be completely different from the previous one. Even Santhanam will have a total makeover.” Disclosing about the shoot schedule, he said, “We have planned to complete the shoot for DD Returns Sequel in 70 days. We will have six schedules of shoot. We have arranged to shoot in various locations including an island.”
The casting unit is currently zeroing in on the actors that will be part of the film. The technical division of the flick has been finalized. Music director Ofro has been roped in to score music for the movie. Cinematographer Deepak Kumar will be behind the camera. Editor Bharath will oversee the editing department. Art director A R Mohan will be designing the background. DD Returns Sequel is bankrolled by Arya under his production company The Show People and Santhanam for his banner house Handmade Films.
