Director Mani Ratnam is currently basking in the success of the multi starrer action crime thriller Chekka Chivantha Vaanam. Following the film, it is a popular news that ace story teller Mani Ratnam is gearing up to bring his dream historical magnum opus project Ponniyin Selvan to floors. The director is totally focused only on the venture at the moment and is said to be making all the pre production works for the project carefully under his surveillance. The power packed star cast of the film has turned the attention of all the cinema lovers not only in the state but throughout the country towards the entertainer. Now we have an interesting piece of information about the project.
Earlier, actor and writer Elango Kumaravel, the co writer of the script of Ponniyin Selvan had stated that the script for the venture has been completed. We had reported on the same. We had also reported that the actors involved in the flick will undergo a few weeks special training before they begin to shoot for the movie. As reported now we have news coming in that the cast of the film have begun training for their respective characters. According to a source close to the story teller, “The artists who are set to depict pivotal roles in the drama have begun the groundwork for their respective roles. They will develop specific attractive manes to portray their characters. Once these training sessions are over we will begin to shoot for the entertainer probably by the end of the year or at the beginning of next year.”
The script is based on the epic historic novel penned down by renowned philosopher and writer Kalki in the year 1951. The director has been trying to turn the epic novel in to a motion picture for a long time, after a dozen postponements finally the project has reached the final stage of pre production. However, guess we will have to wait for a long time to witness the magic of the film maker once again in the epic historical drama Ponniyin Selvan. The motion picture is set to be bankrolled by Subbaskaran under the banner Lyca Production. The musical department of the entertainer has been handed over to Oscar winner A. R. Rahman. The cinematography department will be taken care of by ace cameraman Ravi Varman.
The film is star stubbed as such is the depth of the epic historical saga. The casting department has Jayam Ravi in the role of Raja Raja Chola, Chiyaan Vikram is set to depict the role of Aditya Karikalan, Karthi will be essaying the role of Vallavaraiyan Vandiyadevan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be seen in the role of Nandini, while Mohan Babu will portray Periya Pazhuvettarayar. However, there is no official confirmation on the roles. Apart from them the casting of the movie also has Keerthy Suresh, Aishwarya Rajesh, Amala Paul, and Parthiban whose characters are yet to be finalized.
