Despite his last outing Etharkkum Thunindhavan turning out to be a flop show, actor Suriya is still basking on the massive success of his entertainers Soorarai Pottru and Jai Bhim. After nearly 20 years, director Bala and Suriya decided to team up for a film. The project was tentatively titled Suriya 41. When the project was officially announced the fans got excited and the expectations on the project indisputably skyrocketed. To add to the excitement came reports that the actor will be seen in a dual role in the film where one of the roles will have him as a deaf, and the other as dumb. The drama went on floors last month with a small pooja ceremony. The production unit began their first schedule of shoot in Kanyakumari. Recently, there were reports that actor Suriya had a fallout with director Bala on the sets and stormed out of the sets calling off the shoot. But the production unit denied such incidents and gave a formal notification that the first schedule of the shoot was wrapped up. Now we have some worrying news about the venture.
We have reports that there indeed is a clash between actor Suriya and film maker Bala. That it is yet to be resolved. Currently, there are discussions as to how to take the movie forward. There is also news that the project has been shelved citing differences between Suriya and Bala. As the first schedule of shoot is over, there prevails an uncertainty about the second schedule of shoot. The production house has not made any official announcement regarding the same. As much as director Bala is known for making films on nonlinear subjects, he is also a well-known controversial figure in Tamil cinema. Even his previous venture Adithya Varma, the remake of Arjun Reddy ran into trouble due to creative differences between him and the producers of the flick. The production house sacked him, and remade the film once again altogether. Before that, he got into a dispute with actor Ajith Kumar while filming for Naan Kadavul. Then, actor Arya had to replace him. So, the recent rumors have concerned the fans of the actor.
The duo came together for the first time back in the year 2003 for the flick Pithamagan in which actor Vikram played an impactful role. The drama won critical acclamations from critics and audience alike. And went on to bag the national award. Actor Vikram’s role as Chithan, and Suriya’s role as a carefree young man Sakthi had a great reception among the cinephiles in the state. For the set of audience who were so used to the mass culture of Tamil cinema Pithamagan was a fantastic cinematic experience, and the bearing the film had on us was so vivid.
On the work front, actor Suriya who was last seen on screens in Etharkkum Thunindhavan will next be seen in a cameo appearance in Vikram directed by filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj with actors Kamal Hassan, Vijay Sethupathi, and Fahadh Faasil in the lead roles, and in R. Madhavan’s Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. The actor is currently busy shooting for his upcoming project christened Vaadivasal under the direction of story teller Vetrimaaran. The film is an adaptation of author C. S. Chellappa’s novel of the same name. It revolves around the sport Jallikattu.
