Actor Suriya has not had a proper release since Etharkkum Thunindhavan which got released back in 2022 under the direction of Pandiraj. He was just seen in cameo roles in Madhavan’s Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, Kamal Haasan’s Vikram, and Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira. That is because the Vaaranam Aayiram actor has steered his attention towards his upcoming historical fantasy action film Kanguva. Popular Bollywood actress Disha Patani is set to debut in Kollywood with her female lead role in the drama. Story teller Siva of Siruthai fame has directed the project. The story of Kanguva is penned by author Adi Narayana. Siva has sought the assistance of writers Madhan Karky and Adi Narayana to fashion the screenplay. The production house has officially announced that Kanguva will be released worldwide on 10th of October this year.
Film maker Siva recently celebrated his birthday. Taking to the occasion, as a token of love the makers have unveiled the trailer of the flick on social media. Taking to his official X profile, actor Suriya shared the trailer of Kanguva and extended his wishes to the director, “Incredibly proud of all that we have done as a team, thank you have a very very happy birthday dearest Siva! Here is our Kanguva trailer for you dear all.” Here is the post made by the actor.
Trailer of Kanguva opens to an aerial shot of an alpine region to the voiceover, “Many, many mysteries lie scattered in this island we live in. But the most baffling mystery of them all. . .” Then we have the introduction of the antagonist played by Bobby Deol who seeks to defeat Kanguva at all cost. Subsequently we have the intro of Kanguva himself who appears to be a ferocious yet compassionate leader of his clan. He swears never to surrender even in the face of death. The trailer promises to be an absolute feast for lovers of action and war. Recently while promoting the film in a popular YouTube channel producer K E Gnanavel Raja disclosed that Kanguva will be made in two installments. He also revealed the shoot for Kanguva part 2 might begin either by the end of next year or early 2026.
Kanguva will mark the debut of Hindi actor Bobby Deol of Animal fame in Tamil cinema who has essayed the antagonist role. Cast of Kanguva includes Natarajan Subramaniam, Jagapathi Babu, G Marimuthu, Kovai Sarala, Ravi Raghavendra, K S Ravi Kumar, Redin Kingsley, Yogi Babu, Deepa Venkat, Anandaraj, Prem Kumar, and B S Avinash. Musician Devi Sri Prasad has teamed up with Suriya for the fifth time following their blockbuster albums in Mayavi, Aaru, Singam 1 & 2. A single titled ‘Fire Song’ has been released from the album. Cinematographer Vetri Palanisamy has been brought on board to operate the camera. Editor Nishadh Yusuf has been bestowed with the responsibility to trim the film. The project is produced by K E Gnanavel Raja for his home banner Studio Green in association with Pramod Uppalapati & V Vamsi Krishna Reddy for their production company UV Creations. A mammoth 300 crores have gone into making Kanguva which makes it the biggest budget film in Suriya’s career.
On the professional front, actor Suriya will next be seen on screens in a cameo part in his brother Karthi’s Meiyazhagan. He will soon join the sets of story teller Karthik Subbaraj for their project tentatively christened Suriya 44. Actress Pooja Hegde will play the love interest of the actor in the film. On the other hand, actress Disha Patani is awaiting the release of her next Hindi flick Deva directed by Rosshan Andrrews in which she will be seen alongside Shahid Kapoor.
